New to Uboat and am trying to sink the Royal Oak on Scapa Flow. Please help!

Hello!

I am fairly new to Uboat with some 40+ hours but am getting the hang of it after many a good year on Silent Hunter 4 and complex torpedo management. I don't really have that much of an issue with the latter and had just sunk an aircraft carrier on my way to Scapa Flow and every tin fish hit their target. However, I have just entered Scapa Flow and found the Royal Oak, which is stationary. I am 1,000 metres away or less and have four torpedoes warmed and ready to fire.

As she is stationary, all I have done is select my relative course, which is 0 degrees, and fire. I also notice that my angle on bow is now at 180 degrees. If I change the latter, the former goes in the opposite direction. Is this wrong? The reason I ask as I have been practising for two evenings with the same solution. I have had one hit and the other three go 180 degrees to the boat. I also get the message that the angle of attack is wrong on the torpedo launch screen although the Oak is straight ahead. So, am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

Can anyone help? Any help would be appreciated.

and a wrong angle of attack should be the thing that you try to 180noscope something. firing with back doesnt work if the target is in front.
the little "cross" signals the front side of your boat

Ahhh... So the AOB is 0 degrees at the bottom (180) and 180 at the top (0)? Does that make sense? Would explain why my torpedoes went backwards from the ship.

Hello! I tried to post screenies here to no avail. Okay, will try to explain what I did. Now, I am 870 meters away from the Royal Oay looking at its side dead on. She is stationary as am I. I have locked her and the relative course is 0 degrees. As in the earlier video (thank you!), the AOB is now 180 degrees or the bottom of the dial. For some reason, I cannot change the velocity or distance. However, even though I am looking at the target, I am told that the torpedoes are not in range and they fire in all directions. Some at my 2 o'clock and others to my 5, 6 and 9 o'clock. Any help would be appreciated. I sank an aircraft carrier on my way at an angle and all four tin fish hit. Think I need a shot of navy rum...

Also, if my relative course is 0 degrees, the AOB is now 180. Is this correct? If I move the latter to 0, the relative course is 180... Should both arrows be pointing towards the Royal Oak? Or could this be a bug? Cheers!

Sounds like you tried to fire a salvo without putting in the correct distance to the target.

40 meter dispersion at 100 meters away? Wide spread angle
40 meter dispersion at 1,000 meters away? Narrow spread angle

What aiming technique are you using? Auto? UBOAT manual? TDC manual?

a bit late, but if you're coming from the SH series you might want to try the TDC mod. with this you can lock the torpedo gyro to the attack periscope and simply fire at what you're looking at. i don't really like the vanilla system it's too simple for a SIM especially if you played other sims like silent hunter before

edit: just saw you recent post. on the TDC switch right side lever on (blue indication light off) and the bottom switch off (white indication light off). set speed 0kn. and on the torpedo selection screen switch the knob to the green position. you should now fire directly at the direction your periscope is looking at
