Is there a manual or tutorial?
Sorry I am new to the game but I couldn´t find a game manual, what is the best way to learn the basics aspects?

Hi HistoryPlayer,

welcome to Uboat.

There is no manual yet. You can find tutorials from the port officer. But make sure you do exactly what you are told.
You will find a lot of good information in the guide and many YT videos.

Good hunting!

Back in my day when u-boat entered early access there weren't no fancy tutorials or even YouTube videos (adjusts piece of straw and spits tobacco juice)👨‍🌾

But nah the devs did in fact provide several in-game methods for learning how to play. First and most important rule is:

Hover your mouse over everything!
I don't know if it was Nihilcat (lead developer/programmer) himself that did it or someone else on the dev team but someone took the time to create 'tooltips' for nearly every single UI element in the game. If it's on the UI? Chances are it has a tooltip.

So get into the habit of hovering your mouse over every piece of your UI to get familiar with it. First example? The FUEL icon at the top.

Even the detection hint icon in the lower right corner can give you a wealth of knowledge about how detectable you are to the enemy and certain buffs/debuffs such as the shadowzone, lying on the bottom or how depth charges can actually help you escape.

Are you curious about why some officers have green sailor pips and some have brown? Hover your mouse over the +/- icons in the lower left corner with an officer selected. Seriously, some crazy son of a gun at Deep Water Studios took the time to slip notes into every UI element in the game but only a very small percentage of players take advantage of this.

Playable tutorial missions
Talk to the base commander and select the dialogue option for additional training. This will open up a mission selection screen for a series of playable missions that can teach you the basics of how to play.

(IMPORTANT: Stick to the script. Do not deviate or anticipate what the tutorial wants you to do. Do only what it says, when it tells you to. The game will pause/slow down when the tutorial expects you to do something so pay close attention!)

Steam guides, YouTube and the Uboat Discord server
First place you should check out is the Steam Guides section for Uboat by clicking "Guides" up at the top of your Steam browser or just click this link here.

Next there are a great many YT videos that cover almost every aspect of the game from the basics to more advanced instructions such as how to fire your torpedoes manually.

And finally there's the official Discord server where you can ask other community members for gameplay advice, help with bugs or crashes, learn how to mod or just count rivets with other subsim nerds.🤓

A bot will message you when you join, read the instructions and be sure to visit the "opt-in" channel for additional roles and channel access.

There are some basic ingame tutorials to get you startet, but the game really misses a manual which has all the data you need as in details about your torpedo and you boat as well es uboat tactics and strategies.

It's 2022, everything you may want to learn is on youtube. There are some streamers that play uboat, and there are even tutorials on youtube.
