An idea would be to turn around and be already facing in the direction you want to leave the port before you launch any torpedoes. Then, the moment you launch your torpedoes, you can put the hammer down and be well on your way out, even before the first fish hits home.
That tactic has saved my butt on more than 1 occasion! ;)
Switch to electric engines and stay at low speeds. switch to blue lights. turn off the gyro compass and switch to manual depth steering. stay at the seabed to avoid being detected by sonar.
and remember to lower your snorkel and periscope. even if you're fully submerged the enemy can see you if you have the periscope raised.
If you're running out of air then stop your engine and raise the snorkel, get some air then go back down to the seabed.
you can also do blind attacks from the depth of 15 meters with out needing the periscope by only using the hydrophone.
And of course doing all of this at night really helps.
True.
