UBOAT
bailing water from specific areas
I was trying to hide/escape from a corvette that just *wouldn't* leave me alone- so I went mega deep with all hatches closed and of course sprung a few leaks. I got it repaired, but had water in the front crew room and rear engine rooms. I blew the tanks, max speed and tried to surface.
Does *where* you bail water out of the sub while your bouyency is not favorable affect the ability to surface? Meaning- if I had "front nose weight" from the excess water, was that the reason I couldn't compensate for decreasing my depth with the engines?

Possibly, depending how deep you are, it's better to get that water moved the to control room bilge as soon as possible for the pump to have any chance of getting rid of it.
i understand that (other than my crew not listening and carrying water) I was just thinking if the game had the physics built in to have weight where the water is. If you're trying to surface, the front of the boat should be bailed out first- conversely the water should also flow one way or the other if its at a steep angle of attack up or down, no?

Sounds right if I understand what you mean. A flooded bow torpedo room will drag you down nose first in my experience.

Absolutely so. Weight and balance on the sub is critical just like AC. Not even depth steer can correct a flooded bow. This is a problem that cannot go uncorrected. You must click on the water drop icons which indicate flooding to get sailors w/buckets moving water to the control room with the pump on. Pump efficiency decreases with depth.

I understand the physics- but does it mean the game recognizes this and actually is accountable to have to do what we're discussing?
