"Install Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp Assistant":
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201468
And then install Steam + UBOAT in it...
Finally, an easier way to use Wine to play Windows games on macOS, as it is already the case for a while on Linux!
But, after reading your post about supporting the Devs , I just looked at how Mac Users - play Win Games.
You should also YouTube the following, “Porting Kit Steam” - which has a video to walk you through it.
Good Luck.
Wait you can run the game on Linux? Why?
Some games works very well (sometimes even better than with Windows), some others need workarounds and tuning, and some are absolutely hopeless cases!
With the few last updates, UBOAT is getting each time better and better, and is almost on par with the Windows version...
So I talked about Boot Camp and Windows because it's the easy way and you can use it/even update it without a licence (you just can't personalize it) or get a cheap key for a few bucks online and UBOAT will just works, but if you feel like manually partition your macOS drive and install Linux and Steam/UBOAT on your own, it is of course possible!
Here is the dedicated thread for running the game on Linux (just need to be updated with the last find we made about the Launcher and the Mods):

For a long time, it wasn't working on Linux either, so we find out a way to do it manually!
All the details are in the thread...
Then about Parallels Desktop, you have to know that UBOAT is very ressources hungry and at the same time not really well optimized for now, so i'm not sure how well that will go!
I do think that the Bootcamp variant might give better results, but I might be worth a try...
I'm still reading through the linux pages to see if I can get it running in Crossover.
I used to run it in Bootcamp, but I have an M1 iMac now, no bootcamp support. :(
Sorry, I don't think that the Linux thread with help you with Crossover, because we were lucky that Proton (Valve 's version of Wine) made UBOAT working out of the box from the begining! There was just a weird graphical bug some time, but it was then solved after a while, and then, the launcher wasn't working for a long time too...
But nevertheless, the game was starting and working anyway, it was just about the mods...
And now, it is working too!
So, it doesn't even start in Crossover, or what? Nothing at all? Nada, niet, nix? Not a bleep?
Launched without launcher, it wants .net 4.7.2, will post update when that's done installing.
