Change of Home Port
I believe that there needs to be a change made to how you change your current home port or the port you are assigned to (the one you get your missions from).

I was stationed in the Med and kept getting dull mission so I left Italy. I had unlocked free roaming (able to leave port with no mission assigned) so i sailed for France. When I got there all I could do is resupply.... I was very disappointed that I would have to return through Gibraltor just to get a mission to be reassigned elsewhere.

I propose a change that once you can free roam that you can ether change your duty station ( your port of assignment) or just recieve missions from any port.

I had completed like 4 missions in the Med and did not see a reassignment yet.... just FYI

Right now you need a mission that moves you to a different port. You can't free roam to another one and be stationed there. I'm hoping that it changes so we can "request transfer" for a large amount of points.

Yea I would agree that it might cost something if need be. Just seems like once u reach the point in your career that "command" lets you free roam that you could go to any port and assist any local commander with any missions he currently has.

Maybe as the game develops it will cost more to free roam and as such you would be more of a wild ace of sorts and with that rep then you could assist as needed...

This is a great feature the dev's should consider. I think they're working on campaigns now so this whole gameplay could change drastically

I lost my home port while on a mission around 08/1944. Homeless. -> have to start new game cause cant assign new home port... this needs to get fixed..

If you want to switch home port you go to the officer, pick any mission, then cancel it and look what new missions you are getting from him. Rinse and repeat until you get a switch of home port mission.

In all fairness, I think there was only one U-boat that made it back from the Mediterranean, and that was only because it was the second day of the war.

I know this comes a bit late, but i just figured it out. Its possible by using the "Rebase" command.

just open the console. by default it should be binded to the "^" button on the top left corner of the keyboard (german keyboard, idk if its the same on other layouts). then type: Rebase "NAME OF THE PORT" and hit enter. you should now be automatically teleported to the port of your desire, it should be marked with the typical star as your new home base, and the mission guy should be there aswell.

if you are still having problems:
- make sure that the command line is absolutely empty before typing in the command (the ^ symbol is often not shown correctly)
- Rebase must be written with a capital R
- the name of the base must be written correct (it seems like you should use the german name of the city, if its different, also use capital latters accordingly)
- remeber that not all ports are available at the current state of the game.

some working examples:
Rebase "Bergen"
Rebase "La Rochelle"
Rebase "Kiel"

In SH you had the chance to apply for a change of flotilla, but you couldn't do it often not in the exact day you wanted.

Thank you for destroying my game.

Don't do these commands, it's totally buggy in my game.
Either your submarine is found in the decor, or the dock has disappeared.
No way to go back.

usually everything just needs to load in. you only want to do this when your already in a dock, and not really doing anything else. also not it will look REAAALY funky for a bit because your rapidly teleporting hundreds of kilometers at once and the game will take some time to load everything around you propperly.

I wonder if this could be made into a custom mission around rebasing?

Next update will add a feature which will allow you to change home port for a reputation point.

I "spare" my training missions for that purpose. Few short and easy extra missions to re-roll the mission RNG.
Might just try cancelling at the harbor officer next time.
