Swastika Bug.
Hello there!

Just wanted to inform you, there is some weird bug with the swastika-flags in your game!

Wherever a swastika has to show up, it doesn´t look like one, it just looks kinda stupid and completely incoherent to the point where i am asking myself: "Is this u-boat swimming in waters being in an alternate reality or a back-to-the-future-timeline-paradoxon where Hitler dumped the Swastika and decided to use this german army cross styled flag???"

Now that germany was the only country where swastikas in games would have been banned, until about somewhere around 08/2018 when they lifted that paragraph (this game was EA-released 04/2019..so don´t tell me you didn´t know, also don´t play stupid by telling "too much work to change the flag for countrieS who ban the game, when germany was the only one, if you can develope a great game like this...i am sure you can also google for stuff), i assume that it must be a bug, i just can´t imagine a developer releasing a game and censor it without being aware that there isn´t any country left where a swastika-censorship is needed for.

I guess is the problem for common people that Swastika is still a bad thing but I think they can have a very simple mod to allows it if the player like you and me wants though
Menace Dec 28, 2019 @ 5:25am
There's a mod that adds them, it's pretty good. I use it because I like historical accuracy. It would be like playing an American Civil War game where the confederate flag is altered, it just wouldn't feel right.

The swastika-symbol itself is actually neither evil nor bad, you could say hitler "stole" it for his reich.

I guess most gamers out there don´t have any idea how "traumatized" germans are, from decades of totally stupid german lawsuits and paragraphs, similiar to a witch-hunt regarding all games on the german market.

So you probably seem to think some people "overreact" due to missing/censored swastikas in games, but it´s not about the swastikas, it´s about stupid fu**in censorship.

Have any clue what complete utter bs germans had to live with, when it comes to censorship in games?

You should check how they censored the COMMANDOS series for the german market...like changing corpses of soldiers into bodybags or...my favorite...stupid fu**ing graveyard stones!

...or when they change the complete story of a game to make it fit to the censored blood, which now is black motoroil and instead of humans you have cyborg/machines leaking this black oil instead of red blood (that was COMMAND & CONQUER, needless to say they censored all videos featuring blood and violence)....

....and how could i ever forget the MOST FAVORITE CENSORSHIP-CLASSIC when they censored HALF-LIFE for the german market, making characters who got shot sit down on the floor and sulk, with their heads shaking.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o_rHpdHB2k

WTF were they thinking?!?! LOL

So yes, i fu**ing hhhhhhhhhhhate censorship in all it´s forms and i not only refuse to buy games being censored for the german market (latest game featuring censorship for the german market was SNIPER GHOST WARRIOR CONTRACTS) but as well for games being censored for everyone, especially when it comes to this stupid swastika-censorship no country is asking for anymore.

Honestly i was interested in U-BOAT but the screens with the "censored swastikas" made me instantly turn away....only to come back and start this thread, lol.

It’s not a bug it’s a design decision. If it keeps you up at night download the mod.

Just use the mod. It's no big deal. Like I mentioned before, I like historical accuracy in games like this. It took me 5 seconds to go to the Workshop and install the mod. Historical accuracy is now met for me.

Lol, people who is traumatized with swastikas will have a bad time reading japanese maps... all temples in Japan are marked with swastikas in the map. Temples in asia uses swastikas hundreds, if not thousands, of years before nazis. :-)

...even when i make myself look like it at times, lol, i am not a complete moron, i actually dug my hands into the subject here and read all the related threads about it, there i also read about the flag-mod, but when i read the developers claiming like "we couldn´t use the swastika because we couldn´t risk the game being banned in SEVERAL COUNTRIES" that nailed it because i am kinda allergic to "stupid excuses".

Times are getting better regarding censorship, now developers censor their own games as a precaution because they didn´t had any time to research the subject?

But as i said, they´re not the only developers here who picked the wrong decision, CI Games did the same with their "exclusive limbs-off"-feature in SNIPER CONTRACTS, making it unavailable exclusively for germany and didn´t even told so, that´s even worse than this "swastika thing" here.

I can fully agree. There are several countries where the swatstika symbol is banned by laws and the game can not be published there if it would show up.
So I can really understand that the developers decided not to have different game designs by countries. The symbol shown is something as the "iron cross" used by german troops.

Ok ok, we get it, edge-lord. You have a hard-on for the swastika and can't approach the subject like a normal person because you feel personally insulted that your favourite symbol isn't in a video game. So naturally, you come in here and try to insult everyone else. We get it. You didn't come across as intelligent, or particularly clever, or, as you put it, "making fun of the developer's decision". You just came across as a petulant teenager...

It's astonishing that the people who cry foul at video games for not having "HISTORICAL ACCURACY ROFLOLOLOMG" don't seem to understand the historical reasons that some countries do not wish to have anything to do with nazi symbology, especially for entertainment purposes. No, history isn't being rewritten, it's not being hidden. Point out ONE person that doesn't know what the swastika is or what it stood for in nazi Germany. No one? Not one? Oh. Well, let's point out one western country that doesn't teach about the nazis and what they did and stood for? Anyone?

But somehow history is being rewritten and hidden? Laughable.

(What's also laughable is that it's always, ALWAYS the nazi flag that is complained about. No matter what other historical inaccuracies there are, in this game and others, it's always the freaking flag that idiots complain about. It's like they don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about history, or historical accuracy, they just really really love the swastika. Maybe it gives them tingly feelings whenever they see it, who knows. But for people clamouring about history, they really fail to grasp the historical context surrounding the damn thing.)

And no, Germany hasn't completely lifted the ban on swastikas on games, it has loosened it's total ban, instead examining games on a case by case basis, instead of automatically saying no each and every time. Who on Earth would believe that Germany would go from 100% ban to 100% freedom on nazi symbols in games?

By the way, Germany is not the only country that has laws about displaying a swastika, so even if Germany had totally lifted the ban, it would not affect the laws of other countries. I know, Germany not at the centre of the world, who would have thunk it? Maybe surprising for some people to learn that some European countries also really dislike nazi symbols. Hmm, wonder why. Perhaps some history buff can explain.

If this upsets you, grow a pair, stop being a snowflake, mod it in. No, nobody is going to stop you. Nobody is censoring you or, ironically, the symbol that stood for nazi censorship and oppression. They're just choosing not to use it, as is their right. (As far as i know, the devs chose, freely, not to use the swastika, nobody forced them to do otherwise. Perhaps they made that decision in order to have a bigger market. Perhaps they just didn't like using the swastika. Maybe they just like annoying edgy teenagers. Either way, they chose to do that.)

You have a right to mod it in, if it means that bloody much to you. Hell, go one step further, start your own game company, make a game and fill it with the damn things. Maybe instead of trying to force other people to conform to what you think is right, (ironically because you hate censorship) go out and set that standard yourself, hmm?

rofl...ok...i made a "historically correct uniforms mod" ^^

I understand the case. But is it worth another thread? Maybe. It brought up interesting thoughts of the people. So, guess talking about this is always a win. Its an important topic and all about the everlasting question: Are the people smart enough to let studios use the swastika? Or do we need censoring to label the signs of the 3rd Reich as a strictly forbidden thing or simply as a sign of deep respect for the victims of nationalsocialism? I don't know. I understand both perspectives.

Personally i like the feeling of being sent through time and relive, what the uboat-crews have experienced. So these completely cut out symbols are annoying. It feels like a bad filmset, where some guy of the set-workers grabbed into the wrong box.

To me it's an important element in the construct for the feeling (like the correct music, types of cloth, materials used, etc.). And i think many others feel the same. But it's obvious, that we play as the "bad guys" in this game...so we as Europeans should accept the rules.

My point of view is, it's a flag. Nothing more.

It's a flag that did existed in history, changing it it's the same as saying, "never happened" wich is a kind of hypocrisis.

In Japan, the Rising Sun flag is still in use by JSDF Navy. Koreans hate it but, so what? Did the European contries stopped using their colonial flags in respect for their former colonies? Nope. Will the USRR flag be forbidden some day? Millions died under this flag, didn't they?

So the only flag that must be hidden is the nazi german? Lol

"All contries are ruled by angels, they all killed millions for the right purposes, except the nazi german, they are evil let's bury part of their history ok?". Yes i'm being sarcastic at extreme.

Thumbs up! Happy to see there are still gamers out there who still have and use their brains!

...unlike some certain lifeforms in here, who are obviously completely thinking-impaired, either due to an overreaction of their nervous system or probably a complete absence of brain tissue.

....coming from someone who just wrote a half book dedicated to me, what´s wrong with you? Why so unsettled over this topic? Take a few deep breaths and try it again, but please shorten your post a little, if i wanted to read a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ book i´d buy one from amazon...and it wont be as sad and angry as your "Masterpiece of Ignorance" here.
