This or Barotrauma?
Both are sub games. Are they more different than they are similar?

they are very different games. I personally enjoy both but at the actual state of development, if you are going to play single player, i would say UBOAT offers a more enjoyable experience. Love both games.

I've read about Barotrauma, it looks interesting. For me personally, I like more historical games, so that's Uboat for me. I'm about 30 something hours into the game so far, and I'm having a really good time. It's EA, so there's bugs, but the developers are actively crushing them.
ooh, that's a hard call. Uboat is pretty damn good. It has great attention to accuracy and simulation, plus the crew and resource management aspect brings depth to the game. Barotrauma on the other hand has multiplayer/multicrew up to 16 players I think! but it's stricly 2D side scroll style only, and it seems to be more survival horror oriented. Another great suggestion is silent hunter 5 with the wolves of steel mod. It's almost on par with uboat imho. I've read that you want to buy the uplay version as the mod can be more buggy with the steam version. hope this helps in any way lol

Lad, be serious, if you like history and walking on real u-boat on real sea, buy this. It's best submarine simulator on PC of whole trimes and gets better every month . If you want a some pixelated roguelike toy to kill time, go play Barotrauma, it's good too .

The mechanics are similar, but uboat has a nice FPP and realistic graphics. In the end its a question of your favourite setting and style. To me uboat is the much better game, but i am a real fan of the german uboat history of ww2 and don't like that kind of fantasy-sci-fi that much.

I got both :D

Uboat:
- more realistic
- sideview, firstperson, thirdperson
- torpedo calculations (optional)
- single player
- some micormanagment
- crew managment
- fight against allied forces (vessels)
- open world (fixed map of course)

Barotrauma:
- arcade style
- future setting
- sideview only
- submarine editor (if you got enough time)
- multiplayer recommended
- crafting
- exploring
- lot of micromagament
- crew management
- fight against aliens
- random generated map

In my opinion both are making fun, but they are totally diffrent.
I hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for helping me find barotrauma. Added that to my wishlist as it looks interesting. Though I have no interest in mp.
