Torpedo depth vs Ship draught
Greetings fellow submersible coffin enthusiasts,

I keep missing torpedos because they (presumably) travel under the keel of the ships. Torpedo depth set to 7m fired at a ship with a draught of 8.35m does this constantly, and I have to strike closer to the surface at around 2m depth.

Is this due to a bug or wrong data in the shipbook or are there some torpedo accuracy issues I'm not aware of?

Thx in advance!

There is a guide on this exact subject in the guide section. HTH

I believe there is a bug that anything deeper than 2.5m will miss, regardless of draught, but I haven't tested that lately.

I believe torpedo depth is still bugged, I keep it at the default setting to avoid problems. Just treat it like the depth-keeping issues they had in real life at the start of the war.

I don't change the depth either. Seems to be working OK as is.

No; they probably flew through the hull like they were holograms!!!! I thought the same thing too on some attacks. This is on B127 H1 too. However I noticed on the 6th saved game attempt to sink 2 freighters in the Cardiff Inlet, I noticed the torpedoes fly right through the hull. Here is how I discovered it: On the earlier attempts and using the target camera view, I saw the torps repeatedly fly under the ship hull even when torpedoes were set to 1 meter depth. With the target view, it was clear the hulls were more than 2 meters in the water so I started thinking, hummmmm bug? So on the 6th and final time I watched the torpedoes approach each ship perfectly lined up on the hull and I quickly swung the camera view down just below waterline and on the opposite side of both freighters and saw both pairs torpedoes fly right through the hull!

If you click the torpedo on map view i think you can view the "vessel" from there like other ships.
Edit: I want to play around with depth and spread and speed but i just leave it for the time being.. Did you try setting your torps to 6m or 4m depth? Maybe with the waves the boat was waving up and down a meter or 2, and same for your torpedo, could potentially be a meter or 2 under

BTW it would be great to have a "chase cam" for the torpedoes

@thedarklordkitten, it exists. See @Keeper's post above yours :-)

tag torpedo on map and switch camera to it.
