Report a translation problem
So try to use the ingame book to indentify the ship and see if there are some kind of depth values you can use.
In general i think all computer games are wrong about how tough the transporteres where back in the day.. keep in mind it was war and there wasent really enough resources to spare such as steel/iron for the ships. They actual made the metal sides of the ships thinner than during peace time and there for mere fragile.
In my oppinion it would not matter if they hit a transport ship below the bow or in the side, the ship would go down no matter what... In start of the ware the ships was maybe okay, but later on it was really weak ships of low quality.
Except, of course, for the mystical magical F-class that can take two direct hits with no apparent damage.
In the Rec-manual you will find the depth of the ship. So you know how deep you can set the torpedoes. But leave it at 1,5m because there's still a bug.

This might sound like a stupid question, but where/what is the rec-manual? There's not a whole lot of documentation for this game.
