UBOAT
Dark Nights
Hi Guys well My problem is On night Missions its really really hard to see anything I see them on the map but if I use the scope or glasses I just can't see them not even an outline of the target . Also getting into some ports is impossible at night .Am i doing something stupid or is there a way of making the nights a little lighter .

you have exterior lights you can turn on on top of the uboat con tower also could mess with video settings but the night time is very dark in general

HI,

switching on the external lamp would not a good idea.

If you can't see anything at night, change your video post-processing setting. There is also a hotkey to change it during the game. You can find the hotkey in the keyboard settings.

And check your game setting "dark nights".

No experience with dark nights in this game (I don't own it yet...) but if you have a nice gaming monitor you should try to calibrate it properly. They do not come properly calibrated out of the box... Lots of resources online for good quality monitors and calibration profiles, but if you don't and the in-game settings don't help, you're stuck with adjusting the monitor gamma, brightness, or contrast buttons and that may not work out for all of your apps.

Also type of monitor screen has a huge impact on how night is rendered and the resolution of objects present. I know this from flight simulators, one of my squad mates could see fine, I could see nothing, but that was when I had an old 'potato' monitor...

Ordinarily I would agree, but if you're navigating through a port at night, then it can be vital.

Above the post processing option is a slider bar to adjust the gamma setting. I increased this and that worked for me.

There was an option in the settings for dark nights. After switching this off, I could see much better in the nights.

Game developers forget, or don't know, if the sky is even partially clear and you haven't stared at a light bulb or smoked a cigarette in last 1/2 hour, then night vision vastly improves, and just star light is plenty enough to see at least big objects that aren;t trying to hide...

Interior spaces very different of course.

I as well believe the nights to be too dark/undetailed. Its even a struggle to use the deck gun at 100 meters away. My Brightness is set well, but Its near impossible to manually see shipping. My personal experience at sea is the night sky makes things crisp, especially under a clear sky, detailed. But at distance, unless focused it is easy to miss.

The deck gun does come with a handful of SS rounds ie: flares. They can provide some illumination.

I think the nights are a bit dark, I don't think there's anything you can do. I think there's only one setting for 'night' in the game. I say this because it's clear, the moon and stars are out, and it's pitch dark at the water surface. Calm, moonlit nights especially in the northern hemisphere could be as bright as late evening. Maybe that's one of the things to fix, if the game ever moves on.

Not a super important detail, though. It can wait, there's other more important things

Just remember if it's hard for you to see, that means it's hard for the enemy to see you.

The d:steammocking:arker nights setting is only for player the enemy does not receive the same issue and will see you even if you do not see them.

Compared to other sub sims I'd say this game has quite bright nights especially without the "brighter nights" option checked. but ya, certain nights it can be really hard to see and the UI being bright makes it even harder for your eyes to adjust

HI Geandily,

change your post-processing. There is also a hotkey for this to see the changes directly in the game.

Cheers Ruby
