Yes the directors cut is amazing!!! I have seen some similarities in videos.Like the good ol swordfish on the conning! You know if it is true, and i can customise my crew.I will re-create the greatest crew in history................U-BOOT 96 Das Boot LOS! XD ....I think i love that movie too much lol Too be honest.I think any game of WW2 German U-Boots.Draws some inspiration from Wolfgang Petersens masterpiece Das Boot.

Some time ago I recall reading that the devs took inspiration from Das Boot among other things like the game This War of Mine. That was enough to make me a Kickstarter backer.

And you have stumbled on it at just the right time. Most indicators point to an April 30 release into EA.

since the boat in this is called U96, i´m pretty sure it´s been inspired by a german techno project from the 90´s...

Ofcourse they are inspired by the movie.

Name of the uboat = U96

Decal on the uboat= same as Das Boot.

A Long way to Tipperary is playable on the radio.

But maybe these are just tributes, who know...

Anyway if they make the single player story campaign (which is in the making and will be the primary game mode) based on Das Booot....wheeew im going bonkers!!

i hope they take inspiration from more than 1 movie... would love to see the Scapa Flow mission from U 47 and such :)

Well it has that Das Boot feeling, but not sure how long, the subsim crowd want back the shallow crew system from Silent Hunter and want it too become a boring sterile simulator,, where they only want to do manual tdc and trigonometri and not have to bother with the nuance of managing its crew... why cant they just buy Wolfack and leave this gem, instead of trying to change it into something it was never ment too be...

You all know that u96 was a real uboat with that symbol until 1941 when they removed it my guess they got the idea from das boot and used real war to make it
