UBOAT

NVidia GeForceNow?

Has anyone tried running UBoat in GeForceNow? So far on games like Subnautica I love that I can crank the detail level up to max. Granted it absolutely smashes my internet connection to only get 1280x720, but it looks fantastic compared to the detail settings my box can crank out.

Hmm, apparently you need to request that a game be added. Some publishers are crying foul claiming copyright violation, even though it's no different than me going to my buddy's house and signing into my steam account on his computer to try out his nicer gaming rig...

They have pulled a few big titles off
Sounds like a bunch of publishers that have their own Steam-like distribution systems don't like that nVidia wasn't offering them a cut of the hardware rental, so they took their games home to go develop their own cloud-gaming systems.

exactly. It's the year of the 'pop-up' new wave dev. It's a big assault on GeForce. But we'll see how long these fads last. Because money talks, regardless.

Still, I think it would be great if PlayWay added their game library to the service. I would love to run UBoat at max graphics fidelity but I can't because it would melt my PC.

Well I can play it maxed out no problem at 1920x1080p, I can honestly say it’s not exactly a startling jump from High settings or even mid settings. The water is the best and lighting if you want to pick the graphics that catch your eye. If you’ve played Battletech? Then you’ll get my gist. But it’s nothing to write home about

I'm at the lowest of the low end. I'm actually running on intel graphics lol, just with a ton of RAM.

now I see what you mean by ‘low’. :winter2019surprisedsnowman: I have a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC 6gb. Good on you that it even runs!

As long as the "free membership" only allows you to play one hour sessions, I don't see any use of it...:steamfacepalm:

It says UBOAT is supported, but can't find it when I try to install... so is it?

Yes it is.
Go to settings>Games and scan or add the drive/folder(s)

Edit: are you still using Intel GPU? If so it wont work. It requires GeForce graphics card.

The app only lets you search the list of supported games, it doesn't let you scan your PC. Maybe that's a new "feature" since publishers started yanking support?

Other PlayWay games are listed, even those in EA (like Thief Simulator) so hopefully they get back on board...

Yes, I'm still using Intel GPU. I run at low resolution and detail, but it DOES work. It probably helps that I have 32GB of RAM currently (I use it for software development so it doesn't need great graphics).

I'm looking into upgrading my other computer later this year (it's a 9-year old iMac, it's about time I updated it), although COVID-19 is putting a bit of a damper on my tech budget.

Well i can select 'add location' to scan for games. As i say, i have a GeForce 920M 2GB GPU on my laptop and a GeForce GTX 1060 SC 6GB on my main PC, both have the capability through GeForce Experience to scan a drive or folder for games supported. I'm using GeForce Experience version 3.20.2.34
Nah you don't need the horse power for software, but you would if you were CAD, but then again it still wouldn't be the right card. My machine is 8 going on 9 yrs old the end of the year. I've managed to upgrade it through it's life cycle because i built it for just that! It's had 2 HDD, 1 SSD (added) and 2 graphic cards upgrades, 1 CPU + Win7 to Win 10 (free) My wife uses Mac's for her business plus she trained on them for DTP. Though she has a cracking gaming laptop ASUS with a 4GB Graphics Card

Ah, you're using slightly different software then. The GeForce Now client doesn't let you scan your system for games, there's only a searchbar that queries nVidia's list of supported games.

Really the only reason I need graphics support in my home computer is for games. Everything else I just need a fast processor, a buttload of RAM, and an SSD.

Although my next purchase after the iMac upgrade might be an eGPU, I'd love to dip my toes into VR.
