I like the medals, but..

I like the medals, earned the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class. How do we view them after we've earned them? I don't see them listed anywhere (I could be blind though).

I'm hoping that the medals are handed out in more of a natural manner, rather than do this specifically to receive this specific medal.

Sounds like that's in the works, but at the moment I think you get much more points for, say sinking a warship than a transport, or doing something risky like sneaking into a harbour. If you look at the totals on the wiki, the points go up exponentially, so while your first cruise is likely to get you a German Cross if you're lucky, you'd need to sink over 50 transports to get a Knight's Cross, and over 1000 transports to get KC with Golden Oak Leaves.

" Iron Cross and Knight's Cross are currently awarded for general valor in combat and multiple actions contribute to it. It's probably better and more historically correct way than BRT, because if it would depend on BRT then player wouldn't get a proper reward for sinking, for example a battleship as they weren't freighters, while in history such achievements were automatically granting a Knight's Cross."

Jab on my thidd U96 patrol i got a KC.
Sank maybe 20 merchants in 3 war patrols. No spies planes or warships. Its definitely maybe a little easy to get

20 x 4 ish points per ship is definitely doable. My Captain got his on the 3rd patrol as well. I think they need to tone back the points for captains, he gets double right now for each ship, if he was the one who lined up the shot, because he also gets credit for the sinking.
