WHAT ARE STAR SHELLS
What are they used for? I tried firing them off up high to get a better view on a dark night when i was trying to gun a ship, well that didn't work....the star shell didn't light up anything but itself and flew as fast as a normal shell so it was only lit up for about 2 seconds....not that it lit up anything at all....so yea what are they even for?

Ideally illumination, but they don't work right now.

Hi, Star Shells were meant to be fired into the air to light up a dark combat area. They usually contained a magnesium type flare and did little or no actual damage if they hit an actual target. The ones used in World War 1 often had mini parachutes attached to prolong their effect. I haven't used one yest in-game but it sounds like the lighting FX is broken and needs some tweaking to make them more worthwhile using.
