Snorkel? How to use it?
I researched the tier 1 and then the tier 2 (anti-radar) snorkel systems and of course bought them. However, I'm not quite sure how to raise / lower the snorkel system. I bought them without knowing how to use them.

Any help?

I didn't try it myself yet, but I'm pretty sure an engineer in the engin room needs to activate it. When you add the snorkel, it is placed over the engin. So try to right click on the engin or above it. Maybe the option is only there when you are submerged at periscope depth?

The switch to raise/lower it is just to the right of the NAV station in the control room.

you can also submerge and use electric engines and put up the snorkel just to give oxygen. at periscope depth

Hmm... I was at periscope depth and activated the ventilation (Just right of the diesel engine) and everything worked fine and I didn't run out of oxygen. I guessed that the attack periscope worked as the snorkel simultaneously, although it seemed kinda strange. Guess it was a bug XD

More likely everything was working fine, no bugs. When the ventilation is on it "adds" oxygen at a rate of about 60 while your crew consumes oxygen at a rate of 5. Hover over your oxygen meter with the ventilation running if you don't believe me.

The ventilation system next to the diesel engines uses potassium filters to generate oxygen using a chemical reaction. It is designed to replenish oxygen without having to surface the boat. It is not connected to, or related to the snorkel.

keep an eye on weather and water conditions when using the snorkel also , bad weather and choppy water can mean most of the time its not working and is in fact submerged ... i find having an engineer man the dive planes helps with this.

Ventilation is also noisy and consumes electricity, bear that in mind.

I've made a conscious decision to never install it. Seems like it would make the game way too easy.
