It's impossible to increase your battery capacity at this time to my knowledge, if anything there is an upgrade like many things to increase the lifespan of the battery but I don't believe the developers have added this yet. Unless I'm wrong, the charge is capped at 100% among many other things on the U-Boat. In order to recharge your batteries you must use your diesel engines to run for a good amount of time until you reach your desired battery charge level, although it increases your battery charge it will use up an important asset, fuel.

Edit: For spelling
Well you are wrong in the assumption that it would have to go over 100% to be improved or that it wasn't in game. The game is smart enough to adjust the upgrades from HQ (accumulators 1, 2, and 3) which improve the batteries. It doesn't go beyond 100% it just changes where that 100% is. The last two plays I did at B117 and B118 I did the same thing and researched all three of them while I was out on my first patrol. Upgraded right to three on getting back to port and the capacity bar dropped down from full to represent the improvement.
Yeah if you want to max out diesel and battery life you assign leader +2 to navigation and engineer +2 to the engines as well as the aforementioned trick of switching to electric motors when the batteries are full to save on diesel.
Not strange all of us that Complain about not being able to play gets flamed, when most of you guys seem to be able to play and enjoy everything about the game, I havent gottene to test a single upgrade because the game wont let me progress:(. f,,, im feeling jeaolus...
and that's what the forums are there for, to read and advance in knowledge. anyone here who acts like they know every single element of the game is full of them self. i for one have learnt from reading other peoples posts. as do others. :)
also, as far as upgrading accumulators go, its not really necessary if you manage your sub right. I.E preserve fuel/electric motors. and make the most out of your crews. even throw an officer in the galley helps with discipline.
To be fair some of the people who are complaining, are doing nothing more then throwing temper tantrums. Its early access and a lot of people expect it to work perfect outside of the gate, when it doesn't they make a huge rant about it being a rip off.
Instead of saying hey this game is a ripoff made by liars. Make a bug report saying your getting a CTD with your pc specs and relevant information. One of those will go a lot farther in fixing it.
