Why won't my radio/sonar operator man the Listening station?

The Sonar room has an "eye" icon over it and I can't get him to man that position whether I'm submerged or not. He happily sits in the Radio room, just not in the Sonar room.

There is a bug where either radio or listening room become unclickable. You can assign them through TAB command or FPP. Radio Operator is default at "Radioman" role and won't occupy listening station unless radio station is already occupy by someone else. You need to switch their role to "Technician Officer". This role will occupy listening station first if it is vacant.

I believe that sonar is useful when we can not use our vision to find enemies. Normally it only stays active when you are underwater.

When you are blind is good to have a good hearing.

I didn't know it was possible to define different roles. Any good tutorial videos around?

i don't use a radio opp, i have a technician officer, actually i have 2 so i have constant anti radar coverage and/or sonar, and only put 1 of them on the radio when needed. With maxed radar detector i have not had to worry about getting bombed for 5 missions.
