The sonar decoy? You need to have it in your officer hand before the icon appear. It is right next to the diesel compressor. Go there in first-person mode and look up.

just drop them solo and remember to change depth by 50+m and have a burst of speed. It has saved my useless butt a number of times. You must get distance from it or a circling boat gets a better signal from you then it
