Are Norwegian freighters fair game?
I encountered two freighters last night, one British, one flag I didn’t know. After googling Red Cross on blue background, I find its from Norway. Then I wonder if Norway was neutral, so some more googling shows Norway was occupied by Germany from 1940 to the end of the war. Since the game is set in 1941 , I ignore the Norwegian freighter, sink the British one, and go on my merry way.

Should I have taken out the Norwegian freighter or does that cause a penalty with command?

I was wondering the same thing, I ran across a sweedish freigther in a british convoy I still put one in her but I was curious if there was any reprocussions since I never made it home from that attack.
the norwegian freighters should be ok to sink. As far as i know the uboats sunk them in real life since none of the norwegian merchant ships returned to norway after they were occupied.
Valid targets show up in red. Neutral shipping is grey.
Technically Norway was invaded, so it should be OK to sink
Please don't. :) If they are along the cost of Norway i think it's a no go. They a most likely pro-german ships. If in a convoy with other allies, ok.

Norway had already been invaded by 1941 (they were invaded on 9th April 1940).

Norway had a government in exile in Britain.

You will get traitor message if you shoot at norwegian ships and all friendlies become hostile.

Norwegian merchant navy came under british control. So yes, valid targets.
They certainly should be fair game. From 1939 to 1945, 280 ships sunk (1,219,750 tons) and 34 ships damaged (255,135 tons). Search for Norwegian ships here:

short answer: If the ship is red on the map, you have permission to sink it.
If it is grey, you do not have permission to sink it.
You can sink them and be okay. It's a little of a waste of torpedoes though
RIP my country
When WW2 started, Norway had the biggest merchant fleet in the world. Most got lost in the allied convoys.

Yeah... my uncle was a sailor on merchants. He got torpedoed and sunk six times during the war. Kretchmer was one of the captains that sunk him once.

If any Norwegians are interested there is a free book with his story on google play store.

I remember speaking to an old sailor. And he told me a story where he as the first mate steared the ship towards land and beach it. After being torpedoed. And then saving cargo and all onboard.
