Anyone else encountered unsinkable ships?
Often i find ships that apprear to be unsinkable. No matter how many torpedos i hit it with, followed by dozens of hits with the deck gun, they just stay in the surface. They catch fire, rise vertically like sky scrapers, then as i hit it more they go horizontal again, list to one side, then to the other, then go vertical again...
But they NEVER actually sink.
Very irritating!

And this problem seems to survive saved games. I encountered a group of 2 ships like this, and after like 30 minutes of firing at them i loaded a saved game, attacked the same ships, and got the same result. They just wont sink.

I tried using the report tool (F11) to send game status, twice. But both times i got an error saying "error sending game status, please try again later". So ibe reported it on the Bug report forum.

Anyone else having this problem?

I have Noticed few cargo ships that doesnt take damage for the first or two torp hits. And yeah the deck gun is a bit powerless but if u know where to shoot you get quick results. HE to shoot the deck to start fire etc... This last patch fixed most of those save game problems. But still when i save the game its like flippin a coin. and still save on empty save slot etc.

I Would recomend Fresh install or verify your game files on steam. what versiion of the game you are usin? Unstable worked best for me

Yes - Flower class wouldn't sink. Hit it with six torpedos and 25 deck shots...won't sink LOL. I just disengaged and left...

This was mentioned on the patch note comments as well. Several people feel damage has been broken. But TBH here...unless you are actively bug hunting and reporting...come back to this one in a few months. Devs are doing a great job at bug squashing and stuff but it wont be a while until its "in working order"

No, I manage to sink all cargo ships (usually I don't torp escorts). 88 is effective - try shooting AP near the waterline till you notice a real 3D modeled hole, not just black smoke stains on it. Once you punched a hole in the hull it banks and sinks. Sometimes you need another hole in it. It usually takes around 10 - 15 rounds to make it sink.
In heavy sea a hole above the waterline is sufficient as with every wave more water gets into the hull. I don't know if that's simulated, but it seems so and I like the idea.
Deck gun (never use HE) definetively destroys ships, and torpedoes also do. b120 unstable

Im not talking about the ships taking a lot of time to sink, im talking about the enemy ship taking 6 or 8 torpedos and my entire loadout of 88 and not sinking.

Had one yesterday as a mission target. Liberty class freighter.

14 torps later it still had full health.

Just tried another now with some corvettes. Flowers and Isles. No damage.

I've been using T1 torps most of the time, because they work and are cheaper.
Maybe I should take a load of T2 only, or T3 only and do multiple missions to see how often they work, or if they are bugged. Its possible the code is messed up for just one type of torp.

Did some more testing tonight, seems its all ships that become unsinkable.

However, they do sink to fire. But usually it takes a long time before the fire gets the HP bar moving. So I assume they have some crazy HP amount as well.

Did some testing as well. This is definitely a bug.
Attacked 2 ships, 2 torps each. Then i fired the rear tube at one of them, after reload i emptied my entire torpedo stock on them. Then i went at them with the 88.

One of them caught fire and stood light up like a candle thru the entire night, the other one sank 90% with only the bow sticking out of the water. Later i ran out of 88 as well. Still they dint sink.

Very frustrating. I hope the devs look into this soon.

I was having the same problem with sinking some of the ships also.

I think that the Problem is that the "Code" for the torpedoes are under-powered.

The T1 : Some of the Default Settings :

Damage = 4.2
Crew Damage = 0.8
Damage Radius = 40
Damage Effect Radius = 7.0

Once I increased all of those values in the [ Entities ] file in the "Data Sheets" folder - I could sink all of the ships that wouldn't sink before making those changes.

Interesting, What values did you set for your torpedos?
