Ranks, Badges, and New U-Boats

Just thinking out loud here, but I think some things that could really give this game replay value are a rank system, badges, and upgrading to new U-Boats. Officers and crew could be promoted in actual Kreigsmarine ranks like Oberleutnant zur Sea and enlisted to through Petty Officer ranks to Chief Petty Officer. Decorations like the Iron Cross, U-Boat War Badge, and U-Boat Front Clasp. And maybe as you gain money and rank, new U-Boats (authentic of course) become available with more storage for torpedos, food, items, and crew. Just a thought to generate discussion and maybe have the designers take notice...

+1 I always think when I am playing that it would be cool to see the crews actual ranks. It also adds some attachment to the crew if they die or something instead of "oh my crew died all I lost were some skills oh well". Instead losing your what ever ranks that had an insane amount of medals, I would feel devastated.

I really like the idea of crew progression, ranks, medals, etc. It makes things more personal, makes each crew member unique, makes you actually care about losing that experienced seaman and having to replace him with some unknown rookie starting from scratch.

The same system like in silent hunter 3 would be work fine. crew member with badges better or ranks would be more effective.

Yes, im in late 42' and the game feel kinda out of content.
Convoys still move without escorts 9/10 times.
There's no more upgrades, no new subs. I also found a crew floating around in their rescueboats after i sank their ship in 41'.
It would be cool if they added allied stukas or JU88 etc atleast roaming the bay of biscay and med.

when the boats went to sea they typically dident wear any ranks incase they had to abandon the boat its so they might pass as refugees or surviviors of a freighter about the only time you saw em in uniform was the day they leftb port or during the many propaganda films aboard the boats you also arnt likely to se air support the krigsmarine used to have planes but the luftwaffa commander wanted all aircraft under the luftwaffa,if the fleet wanted or needed air cover,they had to go to luftwaffa command and the luftwaffa HATED the Krigsmarine
