Sonar ping sound
I remember that in Silent Hunter III there was a pinging sound if an enemy ship received a sonar reflection from your submarine, i.e. it was actively tracking you.
This was super existing and an important feedback while trying to hide or dodge better, e.g. trying to move behind a destroyer into it's sonar shadow (because of it's own engine sounds).

We don't have any sonar feedback in this game until now, do we?
Will it come one day? Would be amazing!

Btw. what's the max. sonar distance of destroyers here?

we do!

Oh really? I never recognized it.

I've been single pinged multiple times, but never any sustained pinging. Also, hiding in their sonar shadow doesn't seem to be a function in this game. I've tried, and every time the enemy corvettes turn to hunt me down.

Correct. Current escorts seem to be able to detect your boat 360 degrees around their ship. The detection indicator in the lower right corner of the screen (above the captain’s icon) will always show a detection percentage, regardless of where the escort is pointing.

The sooner that you research noise makers, the better. If I get a few escorts snooping around my position, I release a noise maker at a shallow depth (around 50m) and then dive to 110m and crawl away. They will depth charge the noise maker for quite a while as you continue to pick off the freighters.
Hmm, is there really a ping sound now ? I never noticed that. Can someone please confirm if there s a sound or not ?

in deep enough water at dead stop with nothing on ive had escorts sail right over me detection MAYBE got to 15% they dident drop a single wasserbomb( depthcharge) its if it hits 100(might be 50% hell maybe even 25% idk) that you are detected

Can confirm there is a ping noise. But I don't think I have never heard it on the map. Only while looking at the sub view.

clearly hearable ping sounds in all views would be a great addition, if not added yet

Most of the Sounds in game are either set to Interior or Exterior , so it greatly depends on which view you are in.

I can confirm they do audibly ping at least once, always heard it in FPP and external sub view, but never in map. The crew calls it out as well. I've heard multiple pings but that was with multiple vessels, so I'm guessing each ship will ping with active sonar once each.

As for sonar shadow, I've hid in the prop wash of cruisers, carriers, and destroyers, and found that as they pass over you, the detection chance falls to nil, which allowed me to rise out of the deep and sink quite a few of these with T5s. Corvettes are a little trickier, though, but there is definitely a detection fall off as they move away from you with their stern facing you.

dont be afraid of going to 200 depth - crush depth is around 230 - DO NOT FAST TRAVEL AT THIS DEPTH nor at 200

The pinging sounds really add to the game, hopefully they will add in the ability for some of the Destroyers to ping multiple times while searching for the submarine.

Also, one Destroyer should remain back pinging while the other ships escape the vicinity of the submarine.

let's hope that sustained pinging will be added with the next version
