If your more in to solo play Uboat is what your looking for.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/490920/Wolfpack/
I agree
OBoat is much more like Silent Hunter with a focus of crew-simulation and up to now designed for single players, its strategic gaming, you can upgrade your crew and your boat
for co-op multiplayer and a breathtaking good Type VII simulator, you should looking for Wolfpack
just asked for multiplayer cuz looking for something to play with my friend but i think this type of game isnt his style and wouldnt fit him, so im fine with solo playing it :)
I played 1.5h until it crashed when steam crashes, I'm still not sure wethere to continue playing or refund it. I want to give it another go but max refund playtime is 2h and just the tutorial took me 1.5h and I didn't even Finish it...
Been trying after every single patch and there are as many things solved than broken - from hard computer freezing, to crashes, abysmall performances when showing simple smoke on screen, buggy pathfindings, just retried now and also have overlapping and frozen enemy ship marks, crew pathfinding issues, unresponsive UI more than ever. Time dilatation is a thing as well...
On my side I'm giving up. I've been fighting to defend such kind of niche game attempt for monthes, but just can't bear playing such a messy game anymore.
I personally regret having spent money on this and went by the refund period.
As much as you can be tolerant, understand that it's small team etc etc - nothing justifies such buggy mess, multiple monthes after release. Hell if I was doing that in my day to day job, I would get fired in less than a week.
So disapointed.
Yes, there is something wrong, your expectations. If this were an EA release and there were no updates then rage to your heart's content. If there are bugs and it is still in EA and you don't want bugs... bug off and wait til it is released.
For it's price it's worth it and the devs are contiuning to develop and update things (on the test branch) almost daily.
Is it worth it? Yep. Devs know what they are doing and going about it the right way. Bug hunt first before adding more. Gameplay is good, graphics are good, and its good value for the money asked..
