If the game won't start…

1. Make sure the VR headset is plugged in first.
2. Probably a good idea to make sure SteamVR is up to date (see comment below).
3. For me, it won't start properly from the Steam ‘play’ button, or from the start menu or desktop shortcut. I *have* to launch it from SteamVR. Depending on your headset YMMV, but try that.
4. If you're seeing the thanks screen in VR, then the game did load. The start button is behind you, look around.

Bonus tip: if you're coming from the Oculus world and used to having the ‘recenter’ option in the Oculus menu, that won't work either. You have to use the equivalent option in SteamVR.

thank you for that guide :)
In my experience it also depends on the Version of SteamVR. Sometimes this changes how VR games behave. I am still not entirely sure why.
