PQ4 - Speed issues
Is anyone else having issues with the shootout in South Central L.A. being too fast? I get out of the car and die right away, so I don't have enough time to duck behind the car. Is there a way to fix this? I've tried turning the game speed down but it seems to only affect the playable character.

I played the original game decades ago, so I'm not exactly sure. I'll take a shot in the dark and say try to limit your fps for the game and see if that helps.

Other than that, maybe spam click on the screen transition knowing where the car is to duck behind it.

Hopefully someone else can chime in if they know about this issue, but maybe you will have some luck and manage to do it :2017stickydrink:
I haven't gotten to the shootout part yet, but I think it will work if you slow down the speed in DOSBox by pressing CTRL + F11. I found this easiest to do in the very beginning of the game when you're standing at the crime scene in the alley and there's a guy in jeans, a blue shirt, and a red bandana standing off to the right. He's close to another guy leaning against a fence. He does an arm movement every few seconds that goes really fast before you start slowing the speed in DOSBox. So just kind of watch him and keep gradually hitting CTRL + F11 until his movement speed appears more natural.

I had to do it 19 times, any more after that the game just got really laggy and sometimes crashed when I tried to bring the speed back up with CTRL + F12.

But I'd imagine once you find your sweet spot, you can load your save to where the shootout is and it should work correctly. Once I get to that point myself I'll come back and confirm whether it does or not. I had this same concern as I was playing, which is what led me here in the first place.

It's a bummer that your post was made over a year and a half ago, but maybe you can finally finish the game if you haven't already found a solution.

So I tried it with my method and without. Without, I kept dying immediately like you were. With my method, I was able to get past it. It was still kind of hard, but it worked.
