Official MvC:I Bug Reporting Thread
”I wanna take you for a ride! ♪”

We hope you’re all enjoying or will be enjoying Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite shortly! While we hope all of our fans will have a great time with the game, there will always be some cases here and there where the game may not function correctly under certain environments and / or hardware combinations. With that said, we’ve set up this feedback thread for you all to share any technical issues you may be having with the game. We’ll use this thread as a central repository for tracking these problems, and pass on the information gathered here to the development team so they can investigate and work on a fix.

Before providing any reports, please ensure you've followed the steps below to rule out problems with your PC, Steam or the game’s files:

1. Check the game’s system requirements
Please make sure you meet the minimum requirements for the game, outlined on the bottom of the game’s Steam Store page; if you do not meet the minimum requirements for the game, this may result in poor framerate, or the game not running.

Please note that some high end integrated graphics chips and modern laptop class discrete GPUs may work, but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom.

If you do meet the minimum specifications but not the recommended specifications, you may want to try turning down the graphics settings, if you haven't already.

If you’re experiencing performance issues while using a multi-GPU setup such as NVIDIA’s SLI or ATI’s Crossfire technologies, we recommend experimenting with disabling these settings, as they may cause compatibility issues with the game.

2. Add the game’s folder and files to your anti-virus program’s exception / exclusion list
Some issues with running the game may be attributed to certain Anti-Virus software preventing the game executable from launching due to a false-positive error. We recommend users add all of the following files and folders below to the Anti-virus and Firewall exclusion list to prevent this issue.

Note: to quickly access the following folders, press Windows Key + R then copy and paste the folder URL below.

MVCI.EXE:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE\MVCI\Binaries\Win64

For a guide on adding exceptions to your anti-virus software, please visit one of the following links:

  1. Windows Defender[support.microsoft.com]
  2. Microsoft Security Essentials[answers.microsoft.com]
  3. Avast Antivirus[www.avast.com]
  4. AVG Antivirus[support.avg.com]
  5. Kaspersky Anti-Virus[support.kaspersky.com]
  6. Webroot SecureAnywhere[www5.nohold.net]
  7. Bitdefender[www.bitdefender.com]*

*Please note that for Bitdefender, you will need to also add the two MVCI.exe to the program’s Whitelist. To do this, do the following:

  1. Open Bitdefender
  2. Go to the Protection tab
  3. Click “View Feature”
  4. Click the gear icon inside the “Advanced Thread Defense” box
  5. Select “Add applications to the whitelist”
  6. Browse and navigate to the following two MVCI.exe files:
  7. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE
  8. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE\MVCI\Binaries\Win64
  9. Once both MVCI.exe files are added, close Bitdefender and relaunch the game

3. Give administrator privileges to Steam and the game
If the game isn’t launching or running properly, ensure both Steam.exe and MVCI.exe are running in administrator mode. This can be done by right-clicking on the .exe file and selecting “Run as administrator”.

Steam.exe location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe

MVCI.exe locations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE\MVCI\Binaries\Win64

4. Update your Video/Graphics Drivers and Windows Operating System
Try updating your video card drivers, as oftentimes outdated drivers can cause a variety of issues ranging anywhere from in-game graphical problems, to the game not starting, and more.

For the latest Nvidia drivers, click here[www.nvidia.com].
For the latest AMD drivers, click here[support.amd.com].

Additionally, please ensure that Windows Update has been run and that all the latest updates have been installed on your operating system.

If you still experience crash issues, you may want to try performing a clean installation of the video driver set. This will remove any extraneous driver DLL files or game profiles that existed with the previous driver installation.

To do a clean video driver install, many enthusiasts use a third-party program called Display Driver Uninstaller[www.guru3d.com] (DDU), which completely removes components that were part of the original driver installation package.

  1. Run DDU and uninstall old video driver.
  2. Install the latest OEM video card driver and reboot your PC.
  3. Run the latest DirectX installer package[www.microsoft.com] and reboot your PC.

IMPORTANT! Please don't forget to reboot Windows upon completing a video driver installation. This will help reinitialize the driver and the graphics card using the new driver.

5. Check your graphics driver settings & computer power settings
To reiterate, some high end integrated graphics chips and modern laptop class discrete GPUs may work, but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom.

Laptops with dual GPUs, such as an Intel Integrated Graphics Processor and Nvidia Dedicated Graphics Card, may need additional configuration in the event the integrated processor is overriding the dedicated graphics drivers.

If using a dual Nvidia / Intel GPU, follow these steps:

  1. Install the latest Intel integrated drivers
  2. Reboot your PC
  3. Open Nvidia Control Panel
  4. Click 'Manage 3D Settings'
  5. Go to 'Program Settings' and then select ‘Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’ (if it is not in the list you can add it manually by clicking 'Add')
  6. Scroll down to 'Power Management Mode'
  7. Set it to 'Prefer Maximum Performance' / ‘High Performance Processor’ instead of 'Adaptive'
  8. Close Nvidia Control Panel and launch Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

If using a dual AMD “Switchable Graphics” GPU, follow these steps:

  1. Open AMD Catalyst Control Center
  2. Under “Switchable Graphics”, select the High Performance section and select ‘Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’ (if it is not in the list you can add it manually by clicking 'Browse')
  3. Click ‘Apply’
  4. Close AMD Catalyst Control Center and launch Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Additionally, double-check your desktop / laptop’s power settings by performing the following:

  1. If using a laptop, ensure the charger is connected
  2. Open Control Panel
  3. Select Power Options
  4. Select “Change Plan Settings”
  5. Select “Change advanced power settings”
  6. From within the dropdown menu, select “High performance” and click ‘Apply’ then ‘OK’
  7. Launch Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

6. Reinstall the Unreal Engine 4 Redistributable Package and Update DirectX
In addition to updating your video drivers, please reinstall the Unreal Engine 4 Redistributable Package and ensure DirectX has been properly updated.

The UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe installer for the Unreal Engine 4 Redistributable Package file is found in the following location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MARVEL VS. CAPCOM INFINITE\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us

We also recommend downloading and running the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer[www.microsoft.com].

7. Force the game to run in windowed mode.
If you're having trouble launching the game due to an error or crash, try forcing the game to run in windowed mode by following these steps:

  1. From the Steam client, select "Library"
  2. Right-click Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and select "Properties"
  3. Click "Set launch options"
  4. Type "-fullscreen" without quotation marks and click "OK"
  5. Launch the game

8. Verify the game’s cache in Steam
Try verifying the game's cache in Steam. You can do so by following the steps outlined in this Steam support article (reposted below). This may find missing or damaged files that need to be repaired, even if you've just installed the game. You may also try temporarily disabling your anti-virus while verifying the cache or launching the game, as on occasion anti-virus programs may flag games or the files necessary to play them as a virus.

To verify the game’s cache, follow these steps:

  1. Restart your computer and launch Steam
  2. From the “Library” section, right-click on the game and select “Properties” from the menu.
  3. Select the “Local files” tab and click the “Verify integrity of game files...” button.
  4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
  5. Important: One or more files may fail to verify. This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process. You can safely ignore this message.

This process allows the Steam client to scan every single file you downloaded for this game, verify checksum of each, and compare that against the file manifest data on Steam's content server. If the file is missing or has a different checksum value, you will receive a message stating "X files failed to validate and will be reacquired." What this means is that some files have either been deleted, or may have been corrupted. Click “Close,” and Steam will automatically download and / or replace the problematic files.

If you still experience video / audio-related issues or crashes, please help the dev team by providing the detailed information below.

The more samples and data points we receive, the better we are able to narrow down and determine the root cause of these problems. Here’s what we need:

A) Your System Specs
1) CPU name & model
2) Name / model of the desktop or laptop (if available)
3) Graphics card / chip model and the amount of VRAM
4) Video driver version number
5) System memory size
6) OS version (Windows 7, 8, 10, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
7) Anti-virus software name and version
Please make special note in your specs if you are running Windows "N" and "K" editions that do not come with Windows Media Player.
A good deal of this information, such as the graphics card model and VRAM, are available by running a DxDiag report. For more information on how to run this report, click here.[www.fuzeqna.com]

B) Give as many details about your issue as possible
Please share your specific issue and the location(s) where you’re experiencing the issues – for example, if you’re having problems with the framerate, is it happening constantly, or is it during certain cutscenes, during gameplay, etc. The following information can greatly help as well:
- What stage were you playing when the issue occurred?
- What were your characters doing when this issue occurred?
- Were you playing in Single Player or Multiplayer?
- Did the issue resolve itself when you rebooted the game?
- Please also attach any screenshots or video of your issue, preferably via a Dropbox[www.dropbox.com], Google Drive[www.google.com], or OneDrive[www.onedrive.live.com] link.

C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible
This step particularly is very useful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Game crashes frequently. I'm lucky if I can play 10 minutes before it hangs & then I get a windows message. Seemed to happen more frequently when playing in fullscreen, but windowed isn't much better.

1. i7-7700k
2. Custom build
3. EVGA GTX 1080 8gb
4. nvidia driver 385.41
5. 16gb
6. Windows 10 64-bit
7. WIndows defender

Aside from the listed steps in this guide, I've also tried rebooting & doing a clean install of my graphics driver. I also tried disabling G-sync on my monitor, but the issue persists.
I installed the prerequisite UE4 stuff and it still won't begin.

Lobby is impossible to play for me and at least 6 more players on the same region (SA), it lags and rollbacks a lot and makes the game unplayable. Please take a look at it.
Framerate drops while running in fullscreen.

The game didn't even unpack for me! It said i needed MORE freaking disc space (After i finished pre loading it 3 days ago) and NOW after i uninstalled it to try and fix the problem, ive LOST 37GB somehow!!! It's magically GONE! It said it had currently been taking up 55GB and NOW i only got 18GB back from uninstalling the game!!!!

So to sum things up... The game stole 37GB of my disc space!!! I cant even find where the files are to get rid of them!

I cant even reinstall the game (which i was able to (and finished doing so days ago) do in the first place, lest my post wouldnt be here in the very beginning)...

(Im scared to reinstall it after uninstalling other games because i may lose THAT disc space too)

I have already made a topic on my issue in which there are stuttering/freezing issues only in the game's online lobbies. The details to what is happening are all in this thread on the Tech Help/Support Discussion Board: http://steamcommunity.com/app/493840/discussions/3/1496741765121478817/

Also includes info about a bug with in-game voice chat in which the Lobby host's mic is still heard even when voice chat volume is turned completely down.
This has been mentioned in a few topics in the regular forum, but the game gets weird frame rate drops when running in fullscreen.

I can max out everything and it'll run perfectly in windowed mode. But the second I swap it to fullscreen mode there is a slight, but noticeable framerate dip and occasional stuttering.
A) Your System Specs
1) Core i7 4790k
2) ...
3) EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 VRAM 4058Mb
4) Don't remember the version but i just updated it a few hours ago, so it's the latest nvidia driver
5) 8Gb
6) Windows 10 64bit
7) Avast Free Antivirus 17.6.2310 But the game folder is already in the exclusion list

B) UE4-Duck Game Has crashed and will proceed to close
Fatal error!
That window appears when i try to run the game, then it won't start
There has been discussions about this on the forums.
Eu players have hard time finding other people online, as it takes long time to find anyone.

There are still plenty of people playing so there must be something wrong with the matchmaking system. Please do something about this.
Hello,

My MVCI is not running at all. When I try to launch the game it says "Running" along with showing the loading 'circle' cursor for approx. 15 seconds, but then goes back to "Ready to Play" without starting the game. I have followed every piece of advice in the sticky post to no avail. (Verified Steam Data Integrity, Reinstalled drivers, Reinstalled UE4 Prerequisites, Ensured Run as Administrator is ticked)

My specs are as below:

1) Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K CPU @ 3.5 GHz
2) N/A, custom built Desktop
3) Graphics Card: GTX 670
4) Video Driver Version No: 22.21.13.8541
5) Memory Size: 16 GB system RAM, 2 GB VRAM
6) OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, Version 10.0.14393 Build 14393
7) Anti-Virus: BitDefender Total Security 2018, Build 22.0.10.141

i7 7740X
GTX 1080Ti
Driver 385.41
32GB DDR4 memory
Windows 10 Pro
Bitdefender 1.0.9.21 & Malwarebytes 3.1.2

So, the game says that it's running but it isn't. For 5 seconds, Steam says the game is running but nothing happens. Then, the game "stops" running. All drivers are up to date. All Microsoft Visual Studio packages have already been updated. The UE4 Prerequisites file has been installed. Anti Virus software is not blocking the game at all. Game integrity files have been verified. I'm pretty SALTY at this point.

After playing for about an hour to an hour and a half (happened twice, so far), the entire game will fall to a crawl. Characters move extremely slow in combat and game even runs slow on main menu. Takes a whole computer restart to fix.

Specs:
Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Intel i7-4770
XFX R9 280X (3 GB)
16 GB DDR3 RAM
1TB HDD
Happened on both 1080p and 720p resolutions in windowed mode.

Player lobbies introduce a laggy, jitteriness in the netcode not present in other online matchmaking modes. I was unable to even play my roommate in a private player lobby on a LAN without horrific lag. All other online matchmaking works great, but the lobbies are busted somehow.
The all regions and same regions don't work as intended. It only finds same region players even though all regions is selected. No it doesn't prioritise because I have had searches failed because it couldn't find anyone unless they were from my region. also im sure there are so many lobbies up but i can only find my region lobbies. please fix
Game audio stutters for no reason. The gameplay itself is fine.
