Any way to break opponent's combos?
I know that the series is known for chaining long combo streaks, but watching yourself being beaten up for half a minute without any way to move can be really annoying... Is there any way to counter this? Maybe some good defensive strategies?

Theres the Emergency Switch feature ( hold the tag button down ) but it costs 2 bars, and its not gaurenteed. Infact, it can make things WORSE for you!

you can use a counter switch by holding the tag button but it costs 2 hyper bars and it doesn't break the combo, it just brings in your other character so you can try and rescue your team mate. other than that it's best to avoid getting hit overall which in Marvel games means don't get in a situation where you have to block some kind of mixup to begin with. this requires to work on your movement options and defensive attacks, depending on the character. advanced guard is also a good option to push away the opponent.

Thanks for the Emergency Switch info, this might help a bit.

Sooo in other words, stay far away from the opponent and spam projectiles?

depends on your characters and your game plan. but yes, the marvel formula is pretty much find cheap stuff and abuse it. but eventually you wanna go in yourself. don't forget to abuse the new new tag system which allows you to create easy 50/50 mixups. e.g. approach your opponent with a jump attack while at the time bringing in your other character and going low.

Also, everyone can reflect projectiles now (adv. guard) and easily at that, so watch out for that.

If you're starting out... use Soul Gem so you can revive your downed character.

Also, try chicken blocking by holding up-back if you're worried about getting mixed up and don't know where to block.

Beware that you get chip damage by blocking in the air.

Thanks guys, guess I'll stick to the Soul Stone after all. I also tried the Mind Stone a few times to get myself more meter for performing Counter Switches, but it didn't work out in the long run.

Now that's an interesting idea, but wouldn't that make me vulnerable to low attacks between jumps?

sure but this is not a negative. you're vulnerable to low attacks anyway if you're grounded. the real issue with chicken guard in Infinite is that you'll take higher chip damage and even normals will do that. if you're blocking grounded normals don't deal chip damage.

Soul Stone is really good just be ready for good players activating their storm after killing your first character so they block the revive from happening.
