Why is Captain Marvel's alt called Warbird instead of Ms Marvel?

The only possible explaination I can think of is that they're making the current Ms Marvel DLC

1. Thats her Warbird costume. Its the costumes she's best known for, but it's still Warbird.

2. Ms. marvel is Kamala Khan. Who... has absolutely nothing to do with Carol powers or otherwise.

Except now, she isn't. She USED to be Ms. Marvel, now somebody else has that name.

When someone mentions Cap Marvel you don't think of Mar-Vell, do you? Of course you don't. Same deal.

Barring the fact that when people mention Captain Marvel, a lot of people think Shazam, no one thinks of Mar-Vell because he wasn't as iconic as, say, Carol Danvers was as Captain Marvel

It doesn't matter to Marvel which alias the character is better known as. What matters is who they are known as now.

calling it "Ms. Marvel" would imply any other costume she wore before becoming captain marvel

Well soooooorrrryyyy for my mistake. I mainly had the old fox kids cartoon as reference which in that show referred to her only as Warbird when Rogue took her powers. Warbird was much more an alias after she rejoined the Avengers in the 90s which was when the cartoon aired. Ive only known of her as Warbird (even though shes been Ms Marvel since her inception in the 60s) up until the early 2000s when Marvel wanted to push her and try to make her a popular character like they like to do.

Uh I think your memory is hazy on this one. She was Ms. Marvel in the old Fox X-Men show too. Never Warbird.

This here! Ms. Marvel is Kamala Khan right now and most likely they did this to avoid confusion. (And her comic sucks.)

The Warbird comes from her joining the avengers in 1998 and took that name. It was more about just setting aside the 'Marvel' name at the time.

I don't care for the name. But I'm surprised Marvel let Capcom use that costume for her.
Yet, I think the costume looks bad on her actual 3D model. It just showed how masculine her body is: broad shoulders, barely any waist nor hips.
It really looks like Carl Manvers is wearing that.
