The roster is not bad
Actually I mean , the roster is not enogh only if compares with MvC2 and UMvC3, I don't think that Dbz Fighterz will have a huge roster, actually I think it will have not enough for a 3v3, but the thing is that Capcom brought us the great MvC2 and UMvC3, and after that is so hard to give us a game that surpasses the sucess of the previous.

But I'm Still hyped, Marvel and Capcom gave me my best years of childhood

I don't think the roster choices are the heart of the problem, more specifically it's that:

1.) Much of the roster is returning characters that clearly had assets ported from MvC3.
2.) If many of the characters are using MvC3 assets, where the heck are the rest of the characters?

I'll be the first to admit that the amount of work for any given character is way higher than what the general public seems to think. Even with asset recycling, it's not as easy as dragging and dropping character assets from one game to another.

MvC3 had a base roster of 36 characters, 18 of which were brand new and all of which needed assets made from scratch.

So it's pretty easy to look at MvCI's roster and feel underwhelmed when so much of it appears to be assets from MvC3, but with most of the fan favorite characters missing.
