Is it just me, or was the ending confusing?
I just finished the game, but i must have missed what happened, because i just dont see how the good ending is "good".

spoilers below:

so, the two possible endings are you end up on a destroyed planet in a room full of gold. the other ending, you end up in a room full off non-interactable books floating in space. the letter promiced riches, and to go home. i recieved neither of those things...unless my home was the destroyed planet. i dont think thats the case, though, because the guy's letter says he was the only survivor. anyway, i pushed the button that opened up on the wall during the "good" ending, and the game over screen comes up, offering no explanation of what the button actually did.

I guess i'm just hoping someone can answer the simple question....why is the good ending good?

I was a little put off by the heavy-handedness of the morality of the story, and was left disappointed in the ending as well. The button on the wall activates another teleporation, which maybe takes you back home? I guess it leaves the whole thing open for a sequel, but the black The End screen combined with the music (music is really good throughout though) has a finality about it that is even more confusing.

Really enjoyable game, but kind of ham-fisted storytelling.

You are screwed with either ending. He lied about you going home.
Unless you can eat gold the bad ending is really bad.
The good ending has some hope. I fantasized that the little trip your secret admirer took in the boat he talked about in his last letter led to a spacecraft and he will be along shortly to reclaim his books and invite you on another adventure.
But he did not need you to save his stash of knowledge since it was perfectly safe where it was.

can i move the books to the room with the gold, then teleport to the planet...that way i have the books and the gold, and i'm not stuck floating in space until i die. btw, the possible ways of dying with the good ending are starvation, or a statistically unlikely collision with another object (probably a planet or star). I want to suggest the possability of space pirates, but....naaaa.

Very disapointed myself. It feels as if the developer didn't know how to end it, or didn't have enough time or resources to bring complete closure. This is why storytelling is just as important as graphics, game feel, optimization, etc. It was a big letdown for me.

When you choose the book room it teleports the whole room to space. After you read the note, you can press the button on the wall, which if you look out the windows while this is happening, you'll notice it teleports the whole book room and yourself to your home, Earth. It doesn't show the book room on earth, it just says "The End" but that is what is happening. The knowledge of his race and yourself are being teleported to Earth. That is the good ending.

It seemed very awkward either way. I get that taking the books was better than taking the gold but I didn't see that it transported me back to Earth. A lot of things in this game were unintuitive and way too easily missed and unlike Myst was just too tedious to go back and forth pixel searching to see what it was I missed. But hey a couple of hours for $.99 was I guess worth it. Maybe dev will take what he leaned and make another better game. The graphics were really nice and the soundtrack great.

Is there a 3rd ending ? In 2 of the notes there's the mention of 'strange sounds' in the ocean and lights on the horizon ? Could this be the chance to meet Ektor Turren on the boat ?

It might be the end of the game but maybe it's not the end of your journey.(room for a sequel) . @Bazz Da Machine, interesting idea, we also never use the cannon island becon or any of the docs, hmm...

Oh no it looks like I am trapped in space and can not go back to the planet to try the other ending. Has anyone tried putting the Cannon Island cowardanits into the telescope, maybe a secret door opens? I would have to replay through the game I beat last night, so I don't want to try it out now.
