Using the Numpad.
I want to move the camera forward in the cockpit more than it'll let me.
PRESSING THE NUMPAD MAKES YOU MOVE IN THE COCKPIT UP, DOWN, LEFT, OR RIGHT. MOVING, NOT ROTATING. KIND OF LIKE ADJUSTING A SEAT. HOWEVER, IT ONLY LETS YOU MOVE SO FAR IN ANY DIRECTION.
WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS HOW TO MOVE IN A DIRECTION FURTHER THAN IT'LL LET ME.
I drive with a steering wheel, and I hide the in-game wheel so it's not there. I want to move the camera forward up to the gauges (speedometer, tachometer, etc.) In some cars, the camera doesn't let me move forward enough to do so. So how do I move it further?
Again, I'm not trying to ROTATE the camera, I'm trying to MOVE it further forward than it'll let me. Again, in some cars, it's fine, but I can't get up to the gauges in some other cars.
If you press the "tilde" or "`" key or whichever (probably top left of keyboard, above Tab and next to 1), it should bring up the console.
You can type into console:
This should open a camera tuner menu in the top right, and the option to further adjust the camera with WASD/numpad. You'll need to "unlock" the camera with the button in the top right first.
One problem may be that the camera tuner controls are in Russian - but there's a video to describe what some of the settings do.
Bear in mind you can really screw up the camera views, and I'm not sure how to reset to default - so be careful!
There's a discussion here:

and a Youtube video here:

(edit)
If you want English controls for the Camera Tuner, you can change them in the program files.
If you go to the City Car Driving folder, then go through to:
data\gui\Common\layouts, you should be able to find
This file has the text for the buttons in editable text fields i.e.
You can google translate these yourself and type the English translations in, or for a short time, you can copy and paste from this pastebin file I put up:
https://pastebin.com/JNizAd6j
I set it to expire in a week, as though just a minor setting file, it's not my code to work with and it would seem impolite to put it on the internet forever.
Additionally, the file saved to by the tuner seems to be the cameras.xml file from
data/gamedata/cars/(car number you edited) if you want to back it up first, in case you mess things up. Otherwise, you can reset by revalidating all game files.
Hope that helps somehow!
I can look around with it but nothing else.
After that, I think I used right mouse button and moved the view about a bit (like you would normally), but otherwise I think I just used the WASD keys - though perhaps try numpad or arrows too. I'm not certain.
Have a look at the video where the guy describes it and what each button does - I definitely had it working earlier (you could move the camera completely out of the car if you wanted),
Numpad does nothing. Haven't tried WASD yet
(edit) Is the normal in-game camera/seat adjustment with numpad enough for the up/down? - when I tested it, it seemed to move pretty much all the way up and down.
