Using this game to learn how to drive?
Would it be appropriate to let my son use this game to learn how to drive rather than paying for a Driver's Education course to prepare him for getting his liscence?

You should understand that a simulator can't be a full substitution of a real practice. But it can help a lot to navigate in the situation during the driving, work with controls, know basic rules, road signs and road markings.

I would imagine that if it works with TrackIR, then it would be a helpful familiarisation tool: but certainly not an alternative to twenty driving lessons.

This is waaaaay cheaper than any single driving lesson anywhere in the world, so worth a punt.

You can always refund within 2 hours if its nothing like you hoped.

This game is excellent for learning to drive a car, especially a manual (if you have the steering wheel and pedals). I have taught 4 kids to drive so far, and I can guarantee it has saved me at least a couple of clutches, and un-imaginable amounts of body and paint repairs lol!

Yes for basic
but over 80km/h or 50mph the brake physics is wrong when try to brake a bit deeper.

It's not gonna be drivers ed, but to get a basic feel of what it's like to drive then yes. I'm 16 and have played since I was 11, this game has actually taught me how to drive a standard.
