Crash
I climbed a monument and activated 3 big energy orbs, which filled a structure with water and activated a lot of switches. Then my game freezed and crashed to desktop.

Was playing for 1 1/2 hours as this happened.

After restarting the game I found myself on the top of the monument, from where I activated the 3 big energy orbs. I climbed down to the fox and as I wanted to cross the new bridge that appeared, the game freezes and crashes again.

The UE engine has "lost display" and shuts down. The same crash I've got with the new games "Inner Chains" and "Skylar and Plux", when not using V-Sync. Both have Unreal Engine. But I have V-Sync on.

Hmm, this is strange, can you do me a favor and reach out to http://support.greybox.com?

Restarted again, respawned by the big orb, this time I could pass the new bridge and see the tree and the new water around it ... and again crash. Can't proceed with the game.

In the mentioned game this happened without V-Sync, I guess the 190 FPS at 4K overheated my GPU, but V-Sync tamed it to 60 FPS and so it didn't crash anymore.

But here I'm getting around 50 FPS at 4K, but I guess nvlddmkm from latest Nvidia driver gets a heat problem. This is just a guess why it crashes. I will try now a fix with the Unreal Engine setting, have to do some research and will report if my self found solution will work.

No, have to pass. When starting game, it now even crashed while loading the continue file. The D3D device gets "lost"...

Where is the place the engine settings are stored? I would try something there, but I can't find it in Steam folder, nor in documents nor in local user/appdata.

It keeps crashing now constantly while loading my save file, with the spiral stopping. All my efforts for nothing, after 1 1/2 hours no game for me any longer. If this is not adressed soon, I'll refund in the 2 hour window of Steam. Will try your e-mail for one try before, but when they can't fix, it's sadly a refund. Had liked to continue it to the end.

I've opened a ticked on their webpage now. I'm curious if they can help.

Ok, the game keeps crashing while loading the save file.

I have a preliminary solution: when reducing the settings from 4K to only 1080p, the game will load the save file without crashing, and seems to be playable. So 4K seems to overheat the GPU, because maybe too demanding. The latest Unreal Engine games "Inner Chains" and "Skylar and Plux" had the exactely same issue, but there it was solved by activating V-Sync ingame or per manipulated settings file. Here V-Sync doesn't help to prevent the crash, but reducing the resolution does. But it looks way less beautyful at 1080p than at 4K... (playing on a 40" 4K monitor). :(

Lowering resolution from 4K to only 1080p seems to be a workaround for not crashing any longer, could proceed to the windmills section.

Pretty old post but just in case people are still searching as I was. This happened to me. Also couldn't load my save game. Setting the graphics down to lowest and proceeding through the stage and then setting back to ultra did the trick for me. Cheers,
