Alchemy Set too weak
Hey there,

Loving the game so far, just thought I'd give you some input on the alchemy set: I am aware that these end game items are not necessarily meant to be overpowered, but I just took it through an almost complete castle run with my hunter and it was performing very poorly: out of 11 or 12 uses, I got 1 regular healing potion, 7 weak ones, 2 poison bottles and a crippling one that made all my defensive moves costing 2 energy extra permanently which made it impossible for me to complete the run. In addition to giving very poor results, I could not buy any of the much more useful things offered in the shops between the levels, so that sould be factored in as well.

Was I just extremely unlucky, or is this intended? It just leaves a bit of a shallow taste because I will never, ever again equip it after basically making it impossible for me to win that particular game, which is a pity as I really like the concept behind it, and it really felt just like I was gimping myself overall.

So in short: Any plans to reevaluate and boost it?

PS. The Shadow Crown is pretty bad as well with its huge drawback, I'd take almost any other item in that slot any day..

SO far I also commented about this case in another topic recently.
And I found out "boss items" are scale more toward "fun" instead of "practical".

My suggestion is make 1 more item slot for "boss item".
This boss item give some benefit while also cause drawback/risk in some other way.
Thus making the boss item = game mode.

Thank you for your thoughts, I've noticed your thread as well (and should maybe have posted my observations there).

I only disagree with your statement that these items are "fun" - I found it quite the opposite when I noticed that I permanently gimped my character by drinking that specific potion. I am all for more risk equals more reward, but this just was too much..maybe these bad status effects could be limited to one or two encounters, and then vanish? I mean, I have repeatedly spent 100 gold on it and forego other useful effects by not equipping anything else, which is a pretty big drawback in my book already.

Well, seems like the boss items from City really can end the player run with some risk.
The box can have a powerful demon, that according to someone 666 HP.
Good luck.

I only recommend play the boss items when you want to have a "less serious run".
I myself finished everythings with all classes aside few boss item unlocks.
Thus I am in the mode to experiment any funny thing .
Be strong !

Hi Palinchron, sorry for the late reply. We´ve been having a busy week!
I had the feeling it was a little bit too expensive and after some tests i have decided to lower the cost of making potions considerably. We´ll upload the changes this sunday.
The thing with the alchemy set is that while some potions have bad effects other can have very good effects (like permanent regeneration for example). :)

Hey Grim, no worries, and thank you for the reply and for having considered my feedback!

I would have probably taken a different approach (making the bad effects not lasting forever), but I'll gladly give the Alchemy Set another go once the next patch hits.

Cheers and thanks again for all your hard work!
