Asc... you care more about your men and dont want them to die as you level them up and progress with them. Tactics as long as you finish the missions then it doesnt matter who dies cuz there is no connection to them or replacing units with recruits etc...
Id say they are both good. But visually Tactics obviously is miles ahead and has more customisation. Ascension has no multiplayer at all as far as i can work out (unless im just blind).
Tactics is good with friends but i cant see me playing or being bothered about MP, the games are long and slow and watching the other team do all their moves is ... well. it is what it is...
Im glad i brought both they are both different enough to be worth getting them both.
Ascension is what Space Hulk can be without the limitations of a boardgame. Ammo and heat counters for weapons. More weapons and variants including the Cyclone missile launcher. Skills and equipment options like Tarantula and proximity mines. Ascension has more single player content and replay value than Tactics. And there is a mod which increases replay value significantly. Even if I say so myself. On the downside, Ascension is not optimized. You have to run the public beta version (which is not a problem) and expect low fps.
Get Ascension when it is on sale.
Ascension - a great Space Hulk single player vibe but no map editor or multiplayer
Tactics - good single player which plays very much like the board game and the chance to play as the Stealers but the AI is not so clever. It also offers a great map editor and multiplayer if you can find folk to play against
