To view the info, make sure you switch the small minimap in top right corner to the information position (an "i" inside a circle). Then just mouse over the object or unit you want info on and read it in the top right corner.
Unless you play both of the campaigns, you won't know both your, and your enemies unit abilities.
Some mechanics also have to be deduced from the gameplay, like immediate clearing of a jam.
In game hints are not enough. E.g. when do you learn how many tiles you have to be from a spawn to force mandatory lurking?
The tutorial, and in-game hints, are pretty extensive and cover most of the game subjects, but they're not enough.
