Show off your Custom Maps
The map editor is pretty good but browsing through custom maps at the moment is a bit of a pain, too many tests, duplicates and suicide missions.

so i thought it be nice to have a place to show off your maps for people to try and maybe explain your thinking behind it, get feedback from other players etc.

so let me start

this is a "search and rescue" mission, reannimate your squadmates and extreact.

the idea behind it is for the marine player to start at a bit of a managable disadvantage (only 2 marines but defensible posistion) so the faster he revives his squad the better and i also tried to give him a couple of optional choices to make along the way

i ve tried it against the AI (with the AI being what it is :) ) with the default squad and custom ones and on successful runs i made it out on turn 20

it could use some more work but im pretty happy the way it turned out

Started a Topic like this but guess its too far back hahaha, check out my Map " Lost Found V14 " (Cant delete Maps so i just post the latest version)

Big Map, but enough time for you guys to finish.

there should be a way to delete maps, or update existing ones. that should help clear the chaos a bit.

maybe a mod can pin this so it doesnt get lost in the pit known as "steam forums" :)

I allready talked to a dev about this and he told me they are looking into options on this.

i just had go at your map. its a good one. made it out on turn 18 with one casualty. lots of pressure early on but if you manage to hold that corridor to the right of the marines spawn and send a guy straight to the turret console, it smooths out. had to split my squad early on too, was fun.

I present my reimagined version of the Mission "Rescue" from the Boardgame.

This mission has undergone some substantial testing by me and my brother and was serving as a proof of concept regarding a viabillity to bring back some of the classic missions in the current ruleset.

I recommend playing the first match on "No Timer" and take a good look at the inner workings of the map.

This reminds me of my attempt at recreating the 1st stage of Wolfenstein 3D. If you're interested in trying it, search for Wolfenstein 40k in-game. It should be there somewhere.

played it. well designed. but i found it a bit easy tbh. i was out by turn 12 with 0 casualties. maybe it had to do with the AIs tedency to spawn units in blocked off areas and not utilising all the available spawn points. also (and i dont know this was part of the plan so spoilers, kinda) the way you have the consols placed its easy to open the path without unblocking the gstealers. but overall it was fun

My first map i've completed (Ver 1.0 - Published)

i just had a go at your map, interestin layout but kind of easy. at least against the AI genestealers have rather limited routes. though i have to mention the AI never made it past the rumble at the top spawn so maybe that had to do with it. but i was out by turn 12 with 0 losses. also there were several itterations of the map, dont know wich was the latest i just played most played one

PURGE

this is a straight up battle. the SM player has to kill all enemies and they wont come to him, he has to go after them. The GS player has limited forces but i feel they are more than enough, he can try to overwhelm the SMs early on or let them move further in and try to surround them

Few things i want to do with this one

- i wanted it to be "hard" but still feel "doable". i wanted it to have the feeling of the SMs fighting their way through the horde to get to the final room
- i wanted to take the SMs out of their defensive comfort zone, turn limit is 15 turns and the last enemies are locked in a room at the far side of the map so the SM player has to actively go after them

i ve tried it 3-4 times havent beat it yet, but it does feel possible to beat it.

I hear ya. I wanted to do Doom e1m1 as well but like you said, aesthetics. Wolf3D E1F1 is very straigth forward. I could recreate E1F2 but some creative liberties will have to be taken.
