SM useless in Melee?
I tryd different setups and my SM always die in melle combat with the genestealer even if i use support cards. Double claw maybe 1 kill but than the sm dies. Only with Hammer and shield i can kill 2-4 genestealers in melee battle.

Hi there,

I'd suggest picking Blood Angels or Space Wolves as your terminator chapter, you'll get some cards that are melee-oriented to play; these should drastically improve your melee chances.

Sergeant with hammer and shield is very good in melee. Assault marine with stormclaw not so bad ( you can kill 10 stealers with this guy's ). Librarian is the best with force axe but kill less stealer than the sergeant.

Usually is not a good choice to melee with Marines. But sometime in little corridors or corners it can be a good option. My advice is to have 1 melee max if you play with one squad. And if play with 2 squad some missions need 2 melee but not more.

SH is a very good game and you need to practice a little bit more if you want to understand force and weakness of each race 😏

the card "the next melee strike hits with 100%" is the only card who drastically improve, i lost my rune priest in melee with psi +5 melee and the card +2 melee

Other advice, never melee without Guard !

Well there seems to be a division in opinions towards a. the game is inherently unbalanced right now and b. you just have to practice more. I wonder which of the two factions is actually right.

I'm going to be a jerk and say the ones who have been playing the game since the 80's ^_^

Ya, that has to be the wrong one then. Especially if you actually want to sell the bloody game.

I think this was the same in the board game as well, Genestealers get 3 dice against the power fist, sword, and hammer (which all get 1 dice) and lightning claws (which get 2 dice). I've tried to make mele work in the previous Space Hulk games and it always ended with disappointment.
At the end of the day this is just not a mele-friendly game, it's all about zone-denial and overwatching down long corridors in Space Hulk, and it will probably always be that way. If Space Marines could reliably go toe to toe against Genestealers in mele as well, then SM would be overpowered since genestealers bring nothing to the table in terms of ranged.
Hence, Genestealers *need* a strong stat advantage in mele, since *getting* into mele range for a genestealer is supposed to be very hard.

Aelius is spot on. The game is what it is. Dont buy monopoly and ask to convert to hotel.

Also for those saying this is a beta. Well, its more an early access. At this point you are far from changing game concepts. Perhaps catch some bugs. So dont expect big changes in that sense.

So far Im loving the game. Its what I expected. Space Hulk.

i remember the gameplay improved a lot in ascension. i hope our characters here could have a level progression in singleplayer. this is like a step back

Refund, it's that simple, if you want fundamental elements of "Space Hulk" changed, it's not for you, move along.

True but Ascension was single player only. This game feels like a better version of the first one which did have MP. In this one it seems it's true to the boardgame rules but the cards are meant to give you a way to make up for bad RNG. Even so someone wanting to go melee build on Marines isn't going to get anywhere.

You will be able to upgrade the cards added by Terminators during the missions, unlock new weapons dedicated to its class and find relic called "modules" for each member of the squad.

I agree. But the comparison between Tactics and Ascension is not fair.

Space Hulk and Space Hulk: Tactics are both an adaption of the board game. Tactics has a twist to command points: Cards. Other than that the two games do the same. We can compare them. The winner is obvious.

Space Hulk Ascension (SHA) is an entirely different game. It transfers the concept of Space Hulk from boardgame to computer game. It is what Space Hulk can be without the limitations of a boardgame. For example: Ammo and heat counters for most ranged weapons are not feasible in a board game. They are in a computer game. SHA has them. The RNG is more detailed than D6.

Space Hulk:Tactics limits itself by the rules of the boardgame. Becasue of that the gameplay of SHA is far more detailed.
