Steam won't launch the game?

Whenever I try and launch NS2 from Steam it'll show on my icon im playing it for about 5 seconds. Nothing will pop up. Then it turns blue again and I get the news feed but the game will not start. Help?

close all programs first.
(also those overclock and security stuff like gigabyte asus norton..)

I figured out the problem! Follow this....1. Ctrl-Alt_Delete 2. Click Task Manager 3. go to processes 4. end the process constant gaurd. 5. play!

So Benster was right pretty much. The program Constant Guard from comcast was preventing the game from running. Uninstalled the program and it works fine now.

Ya no... i dont even have contant gaurd, thanks for the attempt though, wish more people would try and help out now a days :)

Are you getting to the main menu but you are only getting the background and sound?

i click steam games and steam. nothing happens.not even try to load.

Start Steam new for a few times. If that doesn't work, restart the pc. If that doesn't work, verify the steam cache of the game. If that doen`t work as well, reinstall it.
