Natural Selection 2
Can open the game without owning it on Steam.
I can enter this game even though I don't own it on Steam. I got the files during a free weekend or something, and when I uninstalled, the files remained. I can't uninstall it again, but I can enter the game without any problems through the files.

By the way, I haven't actually played yet, kinda afraid of what might happen if I play games I don't own.

Since you don't own a license, you wouldn't be able to join any server. The first thing that happens during the connection process is checking Steam with license info. So if you aren't going to buy it you could remove the files. (it's a really good game)
How can I uninstall it though? Obviously it is installed, but I can't remove it, since Steam doesn't recognise that I have it.

I have considered getting it, but other games are higher on my list sadly :)
If you remove the files but Steam redownloads them unfortunately you can only reinstall Steam :/ It's a bug with Steam. I had this with other games before.
Try this:
Open steam://nav/console in internet browser to access steam client bootstrapper
Type in it: apps_installed
If you can find on the list: AppID 4920 : "Natural Selection 2" ...
then type app_uninstall 4920
Sadly, it isn't there. But thanks a lot for your help.
If it's not there then just manually delete game files.
Did you check Programs&Features in Windows?
Just manually delete the Natural Selection 2 folder in your /steam/steamapps/common/
then go to your start button and in the search bar type: %appdata% and press enter, there should be another Natural Selection 2 folder, after deleting that you could go to the start button again, and press "Run" then type: regedit on the left, go down to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Valve/Steam/Apps and delete the folder "4920"
Thats it, you deleted all NS2 files.. but instead of doing all that, you could ofc just buy it cuz its a amazing game =D
Thanks A D A! I knew I had to delete from these places, just didn't know where to look :)

Nice! I didn't know about the console, I had to install SteamCMD into Steam and then redownload Steam when I tried to fix it. :trazz:
