1) If you have it downloaded through steam you right click on the game, choose properties, beta tab and then choose to opt in for the beta version.
2) If downloaded through steam you don't need the dvd in the drive.
3) If you got a cdkey in the box somewhere you can try using that one to active the game through steam. But to be honest I have no idea if that will work some games it does and some it doesn't.
PS: And a merry X-Mas to you!
Are you already familiar withe game? Do you like it? I find, when still being on the main screen, I find that my mouse arrow is suddenly gone (??)... Maybe it has to do with the fact that still the very first version of the game is being installed. I read that the game sometimes crashed right at the start. Maybe I need to install the two patches... I wasn't able to start playing yet.
BTW: Shouldn't updates being downloaded and installed by Steam automatically, just like with the "Emergency"games?
Hope to hear from you again.
Cheers!!
Robert.
I haven't played a whole lot of it (because of The Division :)) but I do like the game. I haven't experienced any crashes myself since I owned the game but that's not saying it's the same for everyone.
Yes games update automatically on steam but patches for this game get released on the beta version first and after some time get patched into the normal version. So if you're not opting into the beta version (which is totally free and done like I posted earlier today) you're gonna have to be patient for bug fixes and new content to be patched into the normal version.
Thanks for your help!
Cheers!!
Robert.
