Wow, so sorry for your bad luck in this title niteowl.. I know you asked questions before purchasing and then this!! Only suggestions I would have is keep everything on your computer off except a utility for your fans on the graphics card and cpu.. run the fans at top speed before entering game.. just to test if heating is an issue.. although it might not look as intense as other games, it might be using more than you think.. especially in "early access".. other than that some silly Unity and AMD conflict error.. but have not seen anyone comment that uses the AMD chip.. can also try set game to lowest possible settings and vsync on.. see if it takes longer to crash.. just to test.. only when your system reboots on its own is it usually a power supply issue.. and like you said.. other games work just fine..
There is suppose to be a big bug update patch next week that might deal with some of your problems.. which doesn't help you right at the moment though.. If frustration has won you over, I am sure you can get a refund of the game on steam.. that is a total shame.. it does work for most people and a good game.. but I can understand the frustration level.. that's early access for ya..
ive been awake all day and night working on it.... eventually i figured it out...even after multiple memory test coming back negative for errors ...i ripped out each piece of ram and tried them one at a time anyhow.
turns out that the OS was seeing the 8 gig stick of ram and seemed it was operational however once it reached a certian peak there were infact issues once it was reached and when it was reached it triggered all of these random bs errors i've been having. So i bought a new 8gig stick and im going to try it again now because it worked fine with just one stick of ram in it but not with 2...so hopefully after replaceing the second stick this thing will work the way its supposed to be working.....
ill report back later on progress as im extremely exhausted from being awake all night and day and work in a few short hours

well guys, so fa i made it a half hour in the game without it crashing. It seems that limiting the Vsync seemed to work for the time being... i dont know if this is a perma fix or if it will revert at anytime...but for now its allowing me to play a little longer.
i had noticed that the GPU was at 100% until i had turned on the vsync. I will test it agian later for a longer duration and will report back if it should start happening again but for now the fix is Vsync of all things.
Your GPU running at 95-100% is a normal thing .. that means it is working to its full potential.. you might want to check your systems heat.. GPU,CPU ... I have a 8700K OC 4.8 CPU(30% load 64c) and 1070 GPU(98% load 74c) and no issues with this game. runs like any other game made in past few years.. good luck..
as it stands at this moment.... with Vsync enabled i have successfully managed to play for an hour thus beating my record of 15-25 mins.
maybe its because the card wasnt forced to work as hard so maybe your onto something bout the heat...i need to figure out how to monitor n ow
Here is a few:
MSI afterburner https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner (also does overclocking)
