On the topic of the wonky collision with that tree, it's unfortunately not an easy fix, but a problem with the engine.
As you can see here, [imgur.com] the engine splits everything up into binary tiles, Passable and Non-passable, with nothing in between. It's an unfortunate aspect to how the engine's tiles work.
At some point in the future, I'm going to redo those tree sprites to be closer fitting to the tile size. That will at least make it less jarring in game.
On an unrelated note, I want to thank you in particular for sticking with this game for so long, I remember reading your review back in 2016 and being blown away that someone would play something I made, let alone write such an in-depth review about it. It really does mean a lot to me.
Anyways, thanks again! This helps me out a lot!
I think I'll have to give it another run since it hurts me to stumble upon this project from time to time without really remembering much except that I liked it back then.
The lore text there is no longer canon, and needs to be changed.
Once I get the chance, I will probably rewrite it to be more lore-friendly.
