Imperium Galactica III wishlist?
Following on from the other thread about IG3.

What are the things people would like to see in it?

Keeping in mind with a definite view to preserving the uniqueness of the IG series so far. Personally I think there is a LOT of scope for a trully excellent game, that is not around anywhere else.

I'd like to start by suggesting that the planets be much larger (4x or 8x the size of present maps) and a wider variety of terrain along with special units, buildings and tactics to go with them.

1) Water worlds (like Kamino from Star wars). Such worlds would have NO LAND MASS at all and require special buildings to be built either underwater or on structures/platforms above the water. As such special units would be required, like hovercraft, ships, submarines and/or aircraft for both attack/defence purposes. I'd really like to see aircraft as an actual controllable unit like the tanks are now.

1a) Worlds with large water bodies, to again create unique tactical situations for beach-landings etc

2) Highly Dense Jungle planets with destructable jungle terrain, and the addition of ground troops units since infantry would be tactically better in such terrain.

3) Gas-giant worlds (like Bespin from Star wars). Where again, there would be no land mass but Cities built on huge hovering structures in the atmosphere, again requiring unnique tactical situations for attack/defence.

4) Asteroid bases (not really like planets), but military/mining complexes that could be attacked and defended like planets are now. Again with a set of unique structures.

I think these would add a lot of interseting variety of tactics and strategy to the game whilst keeping it very much with the Ig flavour. As such there would be a lot more to research and build, and would make choices of what to specialise in important.

BigAss ships with lots of turrets and weapons, like leviathans from SOTS 2.

What I would wish for... hmmmm... small things, like:

1- good looking ships! I tend to remember that in IG1 they were awesome! Now they are just plain ugly. SOlarian Battleships look like they were put together from match-boxes. Very ugly :-)
2- kinda biggger and biggest ships being, well, big and powerfull and hard/expensive to make. A battleship or even a heavy crusier (I would love to see even a battlecruiser!) should be a crown in every fleet. But you have empires that can build like zillion of them in a fleet. Kinda loses "the magic"...
3- bigger map. Not the amount of planets, but way bigger map. So it would be much harder for everyone to find eachother.
4- if you have spies, well, actually make them useful. Apart from gathering empire info they contribute, well, nothing.
5- same goes for diplomacy....
6- perhaps make tradeports/centers/banks more expensive to build but make rewards way bigger! Now I can have them all on 8 planets but yearly revenue is 30.000. suck...
7- and finally, make planets bigger, or stuff smaller. so you can build more of everything! Perhaps add few type of buildings?
Oh, I forgot, Space stations! What a waste they are. They are absolutely fun to research, but once you build all 8 of them they make no diffence whatsoever once a fleet of zillion ships arrives. Same goes for planetary guns, or fortresses on the planets. You have 10 heavy, but 4000 tanks wipe them out in a second.
Please balance things out....

All things aside IG2 is absolutely amazing and I still love playing it today as much as 20 years ago!
Please, pretty please, with sugar on top, make IG3 happen!

For me an IG 3 with the same features would be already a dream come true, still for me there are a few design issues with the game:

- Fleets have no upkeep , this contributes to huge fleets that are almost impossible to destroy for players lagging behind, there needs to be a less linear increase in size and instead make it harder and harder to have huge fleets.

- NPC civs need to adjust their gameplay to the speed of the player, so they don't get an advantage because of having instant actions and not wasting time looking at graphics and enjoying the game.

- Diplomacy - diplomacy only works in IG 2 if you are more powerful that other Civs, Civs must be less pro war and want to create blocks/teams.

- A slighty deeper city simulator and don't build houses but instead make urban zones like cities skyline and sim city.

- Add infantry battalions sprites so you can have many on a game maybe have htem semi-ai controlled you could directly control tanks but instead say infantry to move into towns or stop their attack.. I would always wanted to fight on my Sim City 4 games like zooming and seeing infantry advance on their own.

- Stardrive ship design !!!

Man IG 2 + this fixes and features would be a very very ambitious game, I don't know if it could be made nowadays without a big investment.
