I did this seed collection quest 1 time. I will never do it again, killing them all is faster/easier provides exp and loot.
There is no up side to avoiding combat.
but the real question is, can you get positive with seeds?
planting them is like 20-50% lost
no seed merchant
sandbox maps dont reset ( ive no idea why there is a "last time visited" timer )
so if you play long enough you will run out of seeds
That being said the chance for plants above the level is very low.
Especially if for the first time in a new zone / area.
I read in a post on the forums that the timer for a sandbox location reset is 30 ingame days then you are given the "option" to do this ingame. Never tried it so I cant tell, probably easiest to just sleep for a while if you want to check it out.
To my knowledge for the T1 seeds we actually have a vendor in the first town.
Potato, cabbage and the low level herbs.
Once it gets high enough you'll be swimming in seeds. Collecting herbs/farming on sandbox maps is a great way to level, start actual planting after you get your base skill to a decent level.
