Regarding races and immersion
So, I've played through all the so far available content (5 chapters out of 6), and I have a major concern: is it planned to make your character's race and class/skills actually matter for the story and world immersion in future updates?

For as it currently stands, all NPCs only treat you as a human outlander by default. It gets especially immersion-breaking in quests - for example, elves in Splinterville don't recognize an elf character as one, same happens when you encounter any other non-human races while playing a character of the same race. Gnomes and goblins also don't seem to experience any discrimination despite in-game lore clearly stating otherwise.
If this isn't going to change, then why make non-human races playable at all? Just make a system of choosable perks on character creation instead.

Furthermore, the character's chosen skills don't seem to matter either - a necromancer is still obliged to be against the cultists in Wheatful and will accuse them of practicing "forbidden knowledge" despite doing it himself. And in general trying to play out any "alignment" here is currently impossible - your character cannot be "evil" because the story pushes you into being loyal to the Old Kingdom and its authorities whether you like it or not, while at the same time some quests force you into doing morally ambiguous things out of the blue.

I understand that the "story" in this game is supposed to be somewhat light-hearted and parodic of the proper fantasy genre, but still it would be nice to see major improvements on this front. Because for now the world-building and related aspects just feel lazy and uninspired. Maybe this would've been more tolerable if the regions weren't locked behind main questline progress and you could ignore everything to just enjoy the sandbox, but in its current state the game feels almost on-rails and the promised RPG component in it is extremely weak.

I just want dwarves, goblins and gnomes to be actually small

i could see, at the least, a side mission based on your race. Gnome would be interesting imo; probably involve killing a lot of elves, that sounds great

I agree here, totally. It makes no sense to me that I should help let alone give a giant axe to a guy who is clearly corrupt just from the townsfolk telling you so and even more clearly when he opens his mouth. When you talk to the deserters, it's like you don't know he's corrupt and you can't sympathize with them.

Personally, I am a little disappointed that I can't play like... a gnome necromancer who decides he's had enough of servitude and goes on a massive killing spree. I usually do not like such characters, but there have been other games similar to this where I get frustrated by the railroading and dialogue choices and just want to kill everyone ><;

The game originally allowed us to roam freely. The option should have remained because the main questline makes zero sense for necromancers and players choosing other races.

That's unfortunate... that they changed it so you couldn't that is. =(

This is my big gripe too. I played a gnome to get a kinda "opressed little guy goes on adventure" and barely anything really changes for me. No one even comments on you being a gnome really. A few minor comments on being an "outsider" and one dude who won't talk to you because you aren't a human.

A year later, and since the game is about to get out of early access, I would really like to hear any comments from the devs regarding the issues stated here.

Is there any hope of these problems/nitpicks being addressed after the "full release"?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Agreeing with pretty much everyone above and also wanted to add that there needs to be some kind of darkvision equivalent for traditionally underground races like dwarves, goblins, and especially dark elves. It's kind of weird that DE's get buffed at night and while underground, but can't see more than a few feet in front of themselves, same as humans or anyone else.
