Neither of them are close to being finished. I basically own every type. Each one gets updates slow, but when they do their huge. Both games have a lot of content now but content is different. Realms of magic has a larger playing field then planet centauri. This is because there are multiple screens instead of just one. The map is going to be infinite like minecraft and starbound and what I like more about realms of magic is the ability to make modifications. The writers put descriptions in each file to make the game easy to mod. Planet centauri has been out longer so has.more tiles. Both games are great. I need to update my reviews for both games. Check my reviews out. The only one I highly recommend staying away from is edge of space. That game is only 10% complete. It was taken from the writers and put up as complete and to this very day the vendor still trys scamming sales of the game.

Sad too, I liked EoS. Would have been great if complete.

Both are great imho. Though currently on my potato PC, Realms of Magic runs way way smoother.

Planet Centauri offers some unique features like transforming into various monsters, capturing them and use them as fighting pet, and creating your own spells from various settings (which will apparently get updated in the nearer future).
Furthermore its more of a mixed setting, fantasy and aliens/high-tech, which might not be for everyone.

Realms of Magic seems way more RPG-y than most other "terraria-esque" games, offering leveling up, skilling various stuff like weapon, magic or "basic attribute" stuff. It also offers way better character customisation, a better game world (having various small "worlds" basically to select from, on a big map), better farming (imho), and better quests.
Its setting is way more serious so far, and purely medieval/fantasy stuff from what ive seen, without aliens or guns or whatever.

If i had to choose one, it would probably be RoM, but as i said, both are great (albeit also both are unfinished)

A lot of times, its these which are bettter posts that tell me when similar games are out. When it comes to sandbox world builder rpg games, Steams suggestion system for finding and suggesting similar games still needs vast improvements. All the similar games in my library are not from their daily suggestions or even their recommendations to similar titles, except after I buy them. Then they show up which is a bit pointless. I only found out about Realms of Magic because someone actually asked me a which was better question and the ironic thing about it was it was asked in the Edge Of Space discussions section while I was doing an investigation on EOS which anyone whose reading this, stay far from that title. Eos was stolen from its writers by the seller while in 10% of production and thrown into the finished steam games section. Not even worth the $1.50 when on sale. Games still in the store and new unsuspecting customers still fall for the scam, despite the 99.9% negative ratings. Anyway, someone asked which was better, EOS or Realms Of Magic. At the time I had yet to look fully through EOS but had already seen the game was not complete so told the asker id check after I was done. Right after replying I went into the store and bought Realms Of Magic and something about it had me put EOS aside and start playing it. I then within 10 minutes of playing the game started making my own modifications and was shocked when I saw notes left on what things meant so others could mod too. I got so caught up in the game I started wondering why the steam system not mention it and then saw why and also saw some very big issues (not with the game) but with advertising and discussions section so traced the info back to the dev team and let them know what I was seeing and made a lot of recommemdations. I started doing a lot to help and feel very bad I have had to stop a while, but glad others were quick to jump in and take up the slack. Anyway, I did a huge article on ROM and a week later went back to the EOS investigation and after tearing the code apart, found out it was just a shell of a game made to look compete. Told the person who asked me which was better to stay far from EOS and stick with ROM. Took me a few weeks to discover what happened to the developement team from EOS, but in the end put my report in and suprised the game has not been pulled. Something else I learned that time as well. And that is to check the forums if the reviews are off. Reviews are great to see if a game is good or bad or even abandoned, but sometimes reviews can be messed up by trolls and troll followers. Another game that is great had a lot of negatives because a few trolls said it was abandoned and because this happens all to often, others left negative reviews and I passed the game up the first time. A friend who bought it told me the game wasnt abandoned so I looked in the forums and sure enough, the devs were talking and replying to many posts. I told them to reply and fix their reviews, but they simply said they wont waste their time for trolls and the real reviews will one day overtake the bad ones. It still irked me so I bought their game and left a positive review. But since then when I buy games, I now check both reviews and discussions sections. Hmm, I have no clue why I just typed all this up >_<

I finally found the other game besides EOS to stay far from, and what was worse about the game im about to name is that from what the reviews state and what I have seen take place in the forums, is quite scary. Reason it was so hard to find so I could warn everyone else was because at one point last year, when I kept buying games that the system kept suggesting, this title kept showing up so I somehow blocked the seller from showing up ever again on my account and actually had to use another pc to look it up. Game is called After Reset. Game sound familiar? For many it should. Just about anyone who either purchased Realms of Magic or saw similar suggested game titles towards the middle of Realms Of Magic store page, most likely saw this title and hopefully passed it up. Some legit game sellers actually got heat from people who were.not famier with steams suggesting system because they had assumed the suggested titles that show up in the middle of the page were also sold by the same seller caused even more problems. So why is after reset worse than EOS? Its because not only is the title being reported by recent customers as being incomplete, which is a character generation screen and thats it, I myself have observed in the forum itself people who have just been burned and asking why are automatically getting their posts deleted and banned from saying anything else. Unlike eos where the seller has no control over the discussions, it seems the seller of After Reset has control of both store and discussions and has deleted and banned anyone and everyone reporting it in the discussions section. Game comes with a $50 price tag, but the scam does not only stop on Steam. The people or persons involved used go fund me pages under.different names and has taken so far over $200,000 so far. We all have seen the suggestions listed below which is why so many ask here or elsewhere which game is better. The thing with After Reset, it has absolutely nothing in it that compares to Realms Of Magic, or Terraria, or any block sandbox game. Maybe because its listed as an RPG is why its showing up as a suggestion. Either way, its a scam that used to show up in the middle of ROMs store page, so if you see it on yours, Id suggest selecting not interested so AR no longer shows up.
