The Precinct

The Precinct

Driving with a controller feels odd.
I started the game with a controller bcs. it was recommended and i enjoy some cozy couch sessions from time to time anyways.

I feel the controller driving feels odd atm.

Why can't we use the triggers (R2/L2 or RT/LT) like in other games to accelerate & break/reverse WITHOUT mandatory steering one of the sticks to the front?:VGRUMPY:

This makes driving much more chaotic imo.

I'm not having the same experience. I found the driving to be very smooth and easier than most driving games I've played. I was able to stay in lanes, hold a the speed I want with the triggers. Hand break could be a little better. But I'm able to drive with traffic or drive like a bat out of hell pretty easily. Just not seeing the issues with the controller and I rarely use a controller.

Riding the Helicopter was smooth AF. But I felt like the accelerator on cars didn't respond well to partial input. I did not push the L-stick to the front.

what? Driving is bog standard. RT throttle, LT brakes / reverse. B handbrake, sticks for camera/ steering.
Even handling is pretty good for a game like this.

Helicopter was real smooth to fly.

The vehicle won't move unless, you don't use push the stick to the front.
I think that makes smooth driving harder to achieve. After all this is personal opinion.

Only pushing the RT or LT won't accelerate/reverse the vehicle unless you're using the stick.
It's like you're have to push the steering wheel in a car to drive LOL.

There is no issues driving with controller. If you have to push the stick forward to drive its a "you"-problem. Check the controller settings in Steam, and the game.

i like to drive with L2 and R2 but when i press R2 and move L3 little down than i Stop -.-

People are having problems because the tutorial doesn't tell you about R2 and L2 it says to only use stick and circle.

No it says, I remember R2 and L2 hints when started driving. And also O button for handbrake

Which controller are you using? I think there might be a mapping issue with certain controllers, as driving should on the triggers, not on the stick.

driving was normal and as expected - except for the speed - i was hitting 100mph according to the speedo, clearly only doing about 30/40 in the actual game, no correlation between speedo and actual speed.

Also had a weirdness while driving, was playing with a dualsense, on the left side during the driving tutorial it only listed the left stick, not the triggers. Using the triggers does still work for driving, but it seems that the stick vertical movement overrides the trigger input or something, so if I am accelerating with the trigger, but accidentally move the stick back when turning the car seems to slow down or having some wonky acceleration (for example couldn't get over a curb, had to accelerate exclusively with the stick for the car to go up)

I don't have any issues with the triggers or the sticks, I guess that's a User-Problem not a Game one.
But the driving feels really bad. I can't even get through the Chase in the Tutorial without crashing into every car, corner or wall. Had to stop the Demo right there.
There's like a 2s input delay on everything steering-related. The LB & RB work immediately without problem and the rest (Shooting the Robbers or walking to the Car) worked smoothly.
I also have a huge FPS drop from 100+ FPS to ~37 FPS the moment I hit "gas" on the Car.

i used and ps4 controller and it told me to use the stick, i would have preferred the triggers i think,

I never had issues with controller mapping in steam games before. It also seems other people have those issues. :)

I can agree that the trigger options didn't get mentioned by the tutorial. I only discovered the triggers working for accelerate/break because i tend to push it naturally in a driving game LOL.

I use a Dual shock PS4 Controller. It also mapped the right icons for the PS controllers, so im pretty sure it was recognized by the game.

I can here to give the same feedback OP. This isn't a "you"problem. I'm not sure if it's intentional or not but with my DS4 controller it seemed like both stick and trigger options were always active at the same time. On top of that yes the option for triggers doesn't appear on the pop up and I only found out after checking the controls menu.

If it's not intentional that both stick and trigger control schemes are active at the same time then there's a bug because both are. If it is intentional though that both are active and checked at the same time then that's a horrible decision. I was finding myself grinding to a halt on some turns and shooting off and crashing into things like I was driving on ice at others. I'm assuming it's not a bug since there wasn't a toggle option in the control menu to switch between stick/trigger/both (and that's all that's needed to fix it imo)

The chase in the demo wasn't fun at all imo and that was entirely down to the controls. I quit out of the demo at that point and decided I wasn't interested in the game when before it's sat on my wishlist for a while now with full intentions of buying it in the first week. I really do hope that it's looked at because I was quite enjoying the game up until that point.
