🚔 The Precinct: Frequently Asked Questions
The Game

🚨 What is ‘The Precinct’?
A single-player top-down open-world arcade-action police game, set in a fictional metropolitan US city, in the 1980’s.

🚨 Who is the developer?
Fallen Tree Games.

🚨 Who is the publisher?
Kwalee.

🚨 When will it be released?
The Precinct will release on May 13th 2025.

🚨 What platforms will it be available for?
Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S

🚨 What do you do in the game?
The player will face a variety of procedural crimes, ranging from bank robberies to parking tickets. The player chooses which Callouts to respond to, and how to deal with them. By doing good police work (successful pursuits etc), the player earns Support Tokens. These can be 'spent', on Callouts, to request back-up, spike strips, roadblocks etc.

🚨 Is this a sim?
This is an action-focused experience that is heavily influenced by the style, feel and tone of 1980’s cop shows and movies. The game will recreate those thrilling chases, shootouts and thrills of those fictional stories. We consult with a veteran NYPD officer (who served in this era), however, the game is not intended to be an exact depiction of real police work. Nevertheless, role-players will enjoy the open-world exploration aspects of the game, as well as 'low-intensity' tasks such as parking tickets etc.

🚨Is there a story?
Yes, there is a story.

🚨 What will the price be?
The Precinct will cost $29.99 USD/ €29.99 EUR/ £24.99 GBP. We will be using regional pricing so the price in your region may not be the exact currency conversion of this price.

Features

🚨 Will there be co-op or multiplayer?
No. The Precinct is being made by a small developer team, who are focused on delivering a seamless and enjoyable single-player experience.

🚨 Can I be a bad cop?
No. The player is encouraged to ‘play by the rules’. Repeated breaches of conduct will result in disciplinary action, but the game will take into account the incident you were dealing with at the time - we don't want to diminish the arcade fun aspect of the game.

🚨 Do you have a partner?
Yes. He follows the player and supports him.

🚨 Does the game feature SWAT/ESU?
You can call in an ESU-type van containing ESU-type officers which are better armoured. There are no plans for these units to have special abilities or tactics, but they will be better armed and better armoured. You cannot play as a these units.

🚨 Are there building interiors?
Most of the gameplay takes place outdoors, but there are a small number of building interiors to visit during open gameplay and as part of the story.

🚨 Will there be a first-person / third-person camera?
No. The game was designed to be top-down only.

🚨 Can I do detective work and solve puzzles?
No. You are a beat cop dealing with day-to-day incidents on the street, and larger themes as part of the story.

🚨 Will the PC version support modding?
No.

🚨 Can I customize my character?
This feature is not planned for launch, but we'll keep you updated if that changes post-launch.

🚨 Can I customize my vehicle?
Not planned for launch, but there are a selection of vehicles than can be unlocked as you progress through the game.

Other Questions

🚨 Can I volunteer to be a tester?
There are no current plans for closed / open testing.

🚨 I'm a content creator. How can I get involved with The Precinct?

We'll be running all of our influencer campaigns via Lurkit and Drope.me, so please sign up via those platforms and you will be notified if your application is successful. We receive a high volume of creator requests every week, so we cannot accept applications via any other channels besides Lurkit and/or Drope.me.

🚨 How big is the developer team?
Fallen Tree Games are an indie developer, based in the UK. Currently they comprise of 5 members.

🚨 Is this a sequel to American Fugitive?

English
French
German
Spanish - Spain
Japanese
Polish
Portuguese - Brazil

Like others i am curious about the decision to not support modding, i always feel thats sad to exclude the community from adding to the game and actually many games owe their success to modding
Really liked what I saw in the demo. I appreciate the narrative approach to a game like this while also maintaining arcade-like gameplay.
My main questions are if the full release, or some time after, is intended to have a non-finite campaign? Basically free play. If not, that's fine, just wanting to understand the full intended scope.
Also, I understand the effort to make modding supported off the bat is a lot for a 5 person team, but would you be opposed to mods being made for the game at all? I would love to look and see what can be done to extend the fun and functions of the game in the long term.
Thanks!
Ok, where are the hookers lol. We're are the strip clubs. A police game surely needs some adult action. The graphics - I'm digging them. they're really really nice - - > I LOVE the CAMERA set up. **Please do not change it and if you do, let the current camera style be the actual default because a few of us here taking turns playing the demo are loving it. We can use some good 80's - 90's music, but I get it, licensing is a pain and costs money. The acting is so cheesy and lame but reminds me of the old school cop shows of the 80's. The show Night Court anyone hahaha. We now need a little Knight Rider show added to the game.
I love the weather affects, the colors of the city, The streets look really nice, I love the feal and look of this game. I mean, I'm in love with the style and look of the game. It's a nice retro vibe. That car chase after the bank shoot out was a lot of fun. I did run over many pedestrians hahaha - I didn't mean too. This is a fun, fun game playing a police officer. The NPC's need a little work. This game is going to get better if the DEV's continue to support it. DLC $$ heck yes, I'm in sequel, I hope so. This is a really cool and fun game and I'll be patient to see the type of updates it'll get. Cop game, bring the violence, cussing and sex its a police game.

Please, fix it for steam deck. Less than 30fps is not playable.
it's true, even with the graphics on low ,it didn't reach 30fps :(
is there a button to holster your weapon? seemed kinda odd to me that I had to run with my baton all over the city
I noticed a Car from American Fugitive in the demo, so that was cool.

Yeah we definitely need an option for this, it was breaking Immersion for me.
can you support korean language too? please :hardhat::highlvl:
The game is amazing; I really liked it, but I have some suggestions. First, as far as I saw in the demo, there is only running, no walking, but walking should be included. The game shouldn't be short; it needs to have a solid story. I’d prefer it to be long-lasting, possibly endless, which would be fantastic. Personal development within the game should be well-designed and engaging to avoid boredom. A few mistakes should result in a rank drop, while achievements should boost the rank. For example, officers could be assigned to different regions based on their level, and we should be able to undertake various tasks in different areas. In a highly successful career, we could even join special units like the FBI and participate in exciting operations. Progress should unlock new equipment, such as silenced pistols. The game needs a lot of innovation, plenty of details, continuous growth, and a well-developed skill tree that expands as we level up. Having diverse missions, changing environments, and other elements will make the game incredibly engaging. I’ve never been this excited for a game, and I’ve never written feedback before. Please consider my suggestions.

Additionally, the ability to play as a “bad cop” must be included.

Also, having Turkish language support would be fantastic. I wish you continued success!
Guys, I just finished your demo (twice). Honestly, I don't even remember how I added your game to my favorites, but then I got a notification about the release of the demo and immediately decided to try it. I'm thrilled. You've sold me the game. To make you understand how much it hooked me, I almost never go into thematic discussions on Steam. I hope by the time of release everything will be ready and well optimized. *throws money at the monitor*
Will there be an option to disable rules so you can go around killing freely GTA style? Sometimes it's a bit frustrating being stopped for breaking rules. Makes you understand why cops flip out irl can't do your job with training wheels sometimes you need to pop some heads.
Release please
UK based developer making a fictional US beat cop arcadey game set in 80s generic US City.
Nice.

Also, does the demo had to end? Like, can't you give players the option to free roam, and do whatever features you already baked in?

I've been waiting for the game for a while, I played the demo for a few minutes, and came back only to find out I beat the demo after the last part of training which was sad cause it ended soon as I started it. But thats a good thing I guess cause I'll be purchasing the game soon as it releases, unless I win a copy ;) all I can say is play the demo hit the streets and check out all the options you have to be a cop on the street, car chases with back up to flying a chopper calling in support, to walking the streets checking metters or busting random street crimes. Well worth it. Great job on the game..
RELEASE AN EARLY ACCESS VERSION!!! Sorry, I don't mean to yell but I played the demo and I am more than ready to play. You could release an early access version and update as you go!!!
